French rabbi and author; born about 1717; died at Metz in the first half of the eighteenth century. He was a pupil of R. Jacob, author of "Shebut Ya'aḳob," and officiated as dayyan at Metz. Of his works the following are known: "Ḳiryat Ḥanah," responsa, finished by the author at the age of twenty-five, and published by his son Jacob (Metz, 1785); many responsa found in "ShebutYa'aḳob" and in the "Keneset Yeḥezḳel" of Ezekiel Katzenellenbogen. Coblenz also wrote novellæ on the "Ṭurim," and corresponded on rabbinical subjects with the rabbis Judah Müller, Samuel Helmann, and Jacob Joshua of Cracow.
