In keeping with the ordinances of his father - David, he appointed the divisions of the priests over their service, and the Levites for their duties to offer praise and to minister before the priests according to the daily ... requirement. He also appointed gatekeepers by their divisions at each gate ..., for this had been the command of David, the man of God.
English Standard Version
According to the ruling of David his father he appointed the divisions of the priests for their service and the Levites for their offices of praise and ministry before the priests as the duty of each day required and the gatekeepers in their divisions at each gate for so David the man of God had commanded
Holman Christian Standard Version
According to the ordinances of his father David, he appointed the divisions of the priests over their service, of the Levites over their responsibilities to offer praise and to minister before the priests following the daily requirement, and of the gatekeepers by their divisions with respect to each gate, for this had been the command of David, the man of God.
