Then there went

וַיַּגִּ֨ידוּ

הָֽאֲנָשִׁים֙

וַיִּשְׁלַ֣ח

וְשַׁבְתֶּֽם׃

הִֽתְבָּאֲשׁ֖וּ

וַיִּשְׁלַ֣ח

from Aram-maacah

and from Zobah them

ū·miṣ·ṣō·w·ḇāh,

וּמִצּוֹבָ֔ה

and horsemen

ū·p̄ā·rā·šîm.

וּפָרָשִֽׁים׃

so they hired

way·yiś·kə·rū

וַיִּשְׂכְּר֣וּ

וּשְׁלֹשִׁ֨ים

and who came

way·yā·ḇō·’ū

way·ya·ḥă·nū

וַֽיַּחֲנ֖וּ

and the children

gathered themselves together

from their cities

mê·‘ā·rê·hem,

מֵעָ֣רֵיהֶ֔ם

way·yā·ḇō·’ū

lam·mil·ḥā·māh

לַמִּלְחָמָֽה׃

וַיִּשְׁמַ֖ע

[of it] he sent

וַיִּשְׁלַח֙

of the mighty men

hag·gib·bō·w·rîm.

הַגִּבּוֹרִֽים׃

And came out

way·yê·ṣə·’ū

the children

and in array

way·ya·‘ar·ḵū

וַיַּֽעַרְכ֥וּ

put the battle

before the gate

that the kings

wə·ham·mə·lā·ḵîm

וְהַמְּלָכִ֣ים

by themselves

in the field

בַּשָּׂדֶֽה׃

was set against him before

that the battle

ham·mil·ḥā·māh

הַמִּלְחָמָ֛ה

wə·’ā·ḥō·wr;

and he chose

way·yiḇ·ḥar,

bə·yiś·rā·’êl,

בְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל

[them] and put in array

way·ya·‘ă·rōḵ

וַֽיַּעֲרֹ֖ךְ

of the people

he delivered

[themselves] and they set in array

way·ya·‘ar·ḵū,

וַיַּ֣עַרְכ֔וּ

the children

be too strong

the Syrians me

then you shall help

then you shall help

לִתְשׁוּעָ֑ה

the children

be too strong

then I will help

wə·hō·wō·ša‘·tî·ḵā.

וְהוֹשַׁעְתִּֽיךָ׃

Be of good courage

and let us behave ourselves valiantly

wə·niṯ·ḥaz·zə·qāh

וְנִֽתְחַזְּקָה֙

for the sake

’ĕ·lō·hê·nū;

let the LORD

[that that is] good

in His sight

[were] him drew near

that the people

to the battle

lam·mil·ḥā·māh;

לַמִּלְחָמָ֑ה

וַיָּנ֖וּסוּ

to Jerusalem

יְרוּשָׁלִָֽם׃

and drew forth

וַיּוֹצִ֣יאוּ

and Shophach

wə·šō·w·p̄aḵ

of Hadadezer

הֲדַדְעֶ֖זֶר

lip̄·nê·hem.

לִפְנֵיהֶֽם׃

And it was told

and he gathered

way·ye·’ĕ·sōp̄

and passed over

way·ya·‘ă·ḇōr

hay·yar·dên,

הַיַּרְדֵּ֔ן

and set in array

way·ya·‘ă·rōḵ

וַֽיַּעֲרֹ֖ךְ

and had put the battle in array them

way·ya·‘ă·rōḵ

וַיַּעֲרֹ֨ךְ

So when David

the Syrians them

and set in array

and they fought

way·yil·lā·ḥă·mū

וַיִּֽלָּחֲמ֖וּ

way·ya·hă·rōḡ

of the Arameans

[men that fought in] chariots

wə·’ar·bā·‘îm

וְאַרְבָּעִ֥ים

the servants

of Hadadezer

hă·ḏaḏ·‘e·zer,

הֲדַדְעֶ֗זֶר

they were put to the worse

and they made peace

way·yaš·lî·mū

וַיַּשְׁלִ֥ימוּ

and became his servants

way·ya·‘aḇ·ḏu·hū;

וַיַּֽעַבְדֻ֑הוּ

lə·hō·wō·šî·a‘

לְהוֹשִׁ֥יעַ
