to the housetops

lag·gag·gō·wṯ.

לַגַּגּֽוֹת׃

תְּשֻׁא֣וֹת ׀

a tumultuous

hō·w·mî·yāh,

ḥă·lā·la·yiḵ

חֲלָלַ֙יִךְ֙

[men are] slain

with the sword

qə·ṣî·na·yiḵ

קְצִינַ֥יִךְ

by the archers

they are bound

that are found

nim·ṣā·’a·yiḵ

נִמְצָאַ֙יִךְ֙

in you are bound

[which] have fled me

lə·na·ḥă·mê·nî,

לְנַֽחֲמֵ֔נִי

of the spoiling

of the daughter

of my people

[it is] a day

and of treading down

and of perplexity

ū·mə·ḇū·ḵāh,

For the Lord

In the valley

ḥiz·zā·yō·wn;

breaking down

and of crying

the mountains

With the chariots

פָּֽרָשִׁ֑ים

And it shall come to pass

it shall come to pass [that] your choicest

‘ă·mā·qa·yiḵ

shall be full

and the horsemen

wə·hap·pā·rā·šîm,

וְהַפָּ֣רָשִׁ֔ים

themselves in array

haš·šā·‘ə·rāh.

הַשָּֽׁעְרָה׃

And he discovered

the covering

and you did look

of the house

of the forest

the breaches

you have seen

and you gathered together

wat·tə·qab·bə·ṣū,

וַֽתְּקַבְּצ֔וּ

hab·bə·rê·ḵāh

of the lower

hat·taḥ·tō·w·nāh.

הַתַּחְתּוֹנָֽה׃

of Jerusalem

yə·rū·šā·lim

יְרוּשָׁלִַ֖ם

you have numbered

sə·p̄ar·tem;

and have you broken down

וַתִּתְֿצוּ֙

hab·bāt·tîm,

הַבָּ֣תִּ֔ים

ha·ḥō·w·māh.

also a ditch

וּמִקְוָ֣ה ׀

the two walls

ha·ḥō·mō·ṯa·yim,

הַחֹ֣מֹתַ֔יִם

For the waters

hab·bə·rê·ḵāh

but you have not

הִבַּטְתֶּם֙

and to him who fashioned

wə·yō·ṣə·rāh

did the Lord

and to mourning

ū·lə·mis·pêḏ,

וּלְמִסְפֵּ֔ד

and to baldness

ū·lə·qā·rə·ḥāh

וּלְקָרְחָ֖ה

and to girding

wə·la·ḥă·ḡōr

with sackcloth

and gladness

of livestock

and drinking

we shall die

And it was revealed

ḇə·’ā·zə·nāy

ṣə·ḇā·’ō·wṯ;

shall be purged

from you until

ṣə·ḇā·’ō·wṯ.

ṣə·ḇā·’ō·wṯ;

[even] Shebna

have you here

have you here

you have cut you out

[as] he who hews him out

on the height

that graveth

for yourself in the rock

a dwelling place

will carry you away

mə·ṭal·ṭel·ḵā,

מְטַלְטֶלְךָ֔

with a mighty

and will surely

He will surely

violently turn

yiṣ·nā·p̄ə·ḵā

[like] you a ball

shall you die

the chariots

mar·kə·ḇō·wṯ

מַרְכְּב֣וֹת

of your glory

kə·ḇō·w·ḏe·ḵā,

[shall be] the shame

of your lord

’ă·ḏō·ne·ḵā.

And I will drive you

wa·hă·ḏap̄·tî·ḵā

וַהֲדַפְתִּ֖יךָ

from your station

mim·maṣ·ṣā·ḇe·ḵā;

מִמַּצָּבֶ֑ךָ

and from your state

ū·mim·ma·‘ă·mā·ḏə·ḵā

וּמִמַּעֲמָֽדְךָ֖

shall he pull you down

ye·her·se·ḵā.

יֶהֶרְסֶֽךָ׃

And it shall come to pass

lə·’el·yā·qîm

לְאֶלְיָקִ֖ים

ḥil·qî·yā·hū.

חִלְקִיָּֽהוּ׃

And I will clothe him

wə·hil·baš·tîw

וְהִלְבַּשְׁתִּ֣יו

with your robe

kut·tā·nə·te·ḵā,

כֻּתָּנְתֶּ֗ךָ

and him with your sash

wə·’aḇ·nê·ṭə·ḵā

וְאַבְנֵֽטְךָ֙

’ă·ḥaz·zə·qen·nū,

אֲחַזְּקֶ֔נּוּ

and your government

ū·mem·šel·tə·ḵā

וּמֶֽמְשֶׁלְתְּךָ֖

I will commit

into his hand

and he shall be

to the inhabitants

lə·yō·wō·šêḇ

of Jerusalem

yə·rū·šā·lim

יְרוּשָׁלִַ֖ם

and to the house

And will I lay

wə·nā·ṯat·tî

of the house

his shoulder

so he shall open

and he shall shut

and I will fasten

ū·ṯə·qa‘·tîw

וּתְקַעְתִּ֥יו

[as] him a nail

and he shall be

of his father

And they shall hang

of his father

the offspring

haṣ·ṣe·’ĕ·ṣā·’îm

הַצֶּֽאֱצָאִים֙

and the discharge

wə·haṣ·ṣə·p̄i·‘ō·wṯ,

וְהַצְּפִע֔וֹת

of small quantity

hā·’ag·gā·nō·wṯ,

הָֽאַגָּנ֔וֹת

han·nə·ḇā·lîm.

הַנְּבָלִֽים׃

ṣə·ḇā·’ō·wṯ,

shall be removed

that is fastened

hat·tə·qū·‘āh

הַתְּקוּעָ֖ה

and be cut down

wə·niḡ·də·‘āh

וְנִגְדְּעָ֣ה

wə·nā·p̄ə·lāh,

and [was] it shall be cut off
