I fish, John 21:3; to be a fisher, Plu. Ant. 29; fish for, catch, σπάρους dub. l. in Epich. 54; λίθους Luc. Pisc. 47: abs., Luc. Herm. 65, etc.: metaph. of avenger, ἁλιεύειν τινάς LXX Jeremiah 16:16.

II only Med. occurs in Att., Pl.Com. 44; Ἁλιευομένη, title of play by Antiph.: also later, Posidon. 68.
