בַּעֲלִיס (i.q. בֶּן עֲלִיס “son of exultation,” see בִּדְקַר), [Baalis], pr.n. of a king of the Ammonites, Jeremiah 40:14. Some copies with Josephus (Arch. ix. 3) read בעלים.
