נכח (√ of following: probably be in front of; Lag BN 30 compare Arabic marry (perhaps originally in physical sense); Syriac is Gentle, gentleness).
נְכוֹ & נְכֹה pr.n. Necho, king of Egypt, son of Psammetichus. According to Manetho in the book of dynasties, he was the fifth of the second Saitic dynasty; and in order to distinguish him from his grandfather of the same name he is called Necho the second. See Jul. Afric. in Routh’s in Reliquiæ Sacræ ii. p. 147; 2 Kings 23:29, 33 2 Kings 23:33; 2 Chronicles 35:20, 36:4 Jeremiah 46:2 compare Herod. ii. 158, 159; iv. 42 (by whom he is called Νεκώς). LXX. Νεχαώ.
