Gesenius' Hebrew and Chaldee Definition

רֹאֶה

(1) part. act. seeing, sc. visions, i.e. a seer, a prophet (Seher), compare the root No. 1, letter d, a word anciently used, according to 1 Samuel 9:9. Κατʼ ἐξοχὴν, it is applied to Samuel, 1 Samuel 9:9, seqq.; 1 Chronicles 9:22, 26:28 29:29 other prophets, 2 Chronicles 16:7, 10 2 Chronicles 16:10.

(2) abstr. i.q. רֳאִי vision (in which sense the accent ought perhaps to be placed on the penultima in the manner of Segolates. Isaiah 28:7, שָׁגוּ בָּרֹאֶה “they totter (even) in their visions.” Comp. חֹזֶה No. 2.
