תְּקוֹעַ (“pitching,” sc. or tents), [Tekoa, Tekoch], pr.n. of a fortified town to the south east of Bethlehem, on the borders of the great desert (תְּקוֹעַ מִדְבַּר 2 Chronicles 20:20 compare 1Ma_9:33 ), 2 Samuel 14:2; 1 Chronicles 2:24; Jeremiah 6:1; Amos 1:1 Gr. Θεκωέ, 1Ma_9:33. Relandi Palæstina, p. 1028. Ruins are still found there, bearing the ancient name (Legh, in Macmichael’s Journey, p. 196.)
