בְּאֵרוֹת (“wells”), [Beeroth], pr.n. of a town of the Gibeonites (Joshua 9:17), afterwards of the Benjamites (Joshua 18:25; 2 Samuel 4:2), still in being and inhabited after the exile (Ezra 2:25; Nehemiah 7:29). The Gentile noun is בְּאֵרֹתִי 2 Samuel 4:2, 23:37, and contr. בֵּרֹתִי 1 Chronicles 11:39. Comp. below בֵּרוֹתַי. [Now prob. called el-Bîreh, البيره, Rob. ii. 132.]
