 נֹקֵד noun masculine sheep-raiser, -dealer, or -tender (Lag NB108); — absolute ׳נ only 2 Kings 3:4 (of Mesha, king of Moab); plural אֲשֶׁר בַּנֹּקְדִים מִתְּקוֺע Amos 1:1 (of Amos , see Dr; compare Amos 7:14, where read נוקד for בוקר according to We Now Dr, not GASm, see Bu below); perhaps gloss, compare Bu Kohut Memorial.106f. Gesenius' Hebrew and Chaldee Definition

נֹקֵד pr. i.q. Arab. نَقَّادُ a shepherd of a kind of sheep which have excellent wool, called نَقَدُ; and hence in a wider sense, a herdsman, Amos 1:1 a cattle-owner, owner of flocks, 2 Kings 3:4 (spoken of the king of Moab; like כֹּרֵם from כֶּרֶם, בֹּקֵר from בָּקָר). See Bochart, Hieroz. t. i. p. 441.
