שָׁשָׁא an uncertain root. Piel שִׁשָּׁא Ezekiel 39:2, שֹׁבַבְתִּיךָ וְשִׁשֵּׁאתִיךָ וְהַעֲלִיתִיךָ “I will turn thee and will lead thee (LXX. καθοδηγήσω σε, but Compl. κατάξω σε. Targ. I will make thee go astray. Vulg. seducam te) and will lead thee up.” The signification of leading is clear enough from the context: as to the origin, compare Eth. ሰውሰወ፡ contr. ሶሰወ፡ whence አንሶሰወ፡ to walk or go about, to traverse countries, and ሰውሰው፡ a ladder, from the idea of going up.
