Exodus 37,38
Construction Continues
1 (C1)Now Bezalel made the ark of acacia wood; its length was (F1)two and a half cubits, its width one and a half cubits, and its height one and a half cubits;2 and he overlaid it with pure gold inside and out, and made a gold molding for it all around.3 He cast four rings of gold for it on its four feet; two rings on one side of it, and two rings on the (F1)other side of it.4 And he made poles of acacia wood and overlaid them with gold.5 He put the poles into the rings on the sides of the ark, to carry (F1)it.6 He also made (F1)an atoning cover of pure gold, two and a half cubits (F2)long and one and a half cubits (F3)wide.7 And he made two cherubim of gold; he made them of hammered work (F1)at the two ends of the atoning cover:8 one cherub (F1)at the one end and one cherub (F1)at the other end; he made the cherubim of one piece with the atoning cover (F1)at the two ends.9 And the cherubim had their wings spread upward, covering the atoning cover with their wings, with their faces toward each other; the faces of the cherubim were toward the atoning cover.
10 (C1)Then he made the table of acacia wood, (F1)two cubits (F2)long, a cubit (F3)wide, and one and a half cubits (F4)high.11 He overlaid it with pure gold, and made a gold molding for it all around.12 And he made a rim for it of a (F1)hand width all around, and made a gold molding for its rim all around.13 He also cast four gold rings for it and put the rings on the four corners that were on its four legs.14 Close by the rim were the rings, the holders for the poles to carry the table.15 And he made the poles of acacia wood and overlaid them with gold, to carry the table.16 He also made the utensils which were on the table, its dishes, its pans, its libation bowls, and its jars, with which to pour out drink offerings, of pure gold.
17 (C1)Then he made the lampstand of pure gold. He made the lampstand of hammered work, its base and its shaft; its cups, its (F1)bulbs, and its flowers were of one piece with it.18 There were six branches going out of its sides; three branches of the lampstand from the one side of it and three branches of the lampstand from the (F1)other side of it;19 three cups shaped like almond blossoms, a (F1)bulb and a flower on one branch, and three cups shaped like almond blossoms, a (F1)bulb and a flower on the other branch—so for the six branches going out of the lampstand.20 And on the lampstand there were four cups shaped like almond blossoms, its (F1)bulbs and its flowers;21 and a (F1)bulb was under the first pair of branches coming out of it, and a (F1)bulb under the second pair of branches coming out of it, and a (F1)bulb under the third pair of branches coming out of it, for the six branches coming out of the lampstand.22 Their (F1)bulbs and their branches were of one piece with it; the whole of it was a single hammered work of pure gold.23 And he made its seven lamps with its tongs and its trays of pure gold.24 He made it and all its utensils from a (F1)talent of pure gold.
25 (C1)Then he made the altar of incense of acacia wood: a cubit (F1)long and a cubit (F2)wide, square, and two cubits (F3)high; its horns were of one piece with it.26 And he overlaid it with pure gold, its top and its (F1)sides all around, and its horns; and he made a gold molding for it all around.27 He also made two golden rings for it under its molding, on its two sides—on opposite sides—as holders for poles with which to carry it.28 And he made the poles of acacia wood and overlaid them with gold.29 (C1)Then he made the holy anointing oil and the pure, fragrant incense of spices, the work of a perfumer.
The Tabernacle Completed
1 (C1)Then he made the altar of burnt offering of acacia wood, (F1)five cubits (F2)long, and five cubits (F3)wide, square, and three cubits (F4)high.2 And he made its horns on its four corners, its horns (F1)being of one piece with it, and he overlaid it with (F2)bronze.3 He also made all the utensils of the altar, the pails, the shovels, the basins, the meat-forks, and the firepans; he made all its utensils of bronze.4 And he made for the altar a grating of bronze netting beneath, under its ledge, reaching halfway up.5 He also cast four rings on the four ends of the bronze grating as holders for the poles.6 He made the poles of acacia wood and overlaid them with bronze.7 Then he inserted the poles into the rings on the sides of the altar, with which to carry it. He made it hollow with planks.
8 (C1)Moreover, he made the basin of bronze with its base of bronze, (F1)from the mirrors of the serving women who served at the doorway of the tent of meeting.
9 (C1)Then he made the courtyard: (F1)for the south side the hangings of the courtyard were of fine twisted linen, a hundred cubits;10 their twenty pillars, and their twenty bases, were made of bronze; the hooks of the pillars and their (F1)bands were of silver.11 For the north side there were a hundred cubits; their twenty pillars and their twenty bases were of bronze, the hooks of the pillars and their (F1)bands were of silver.12 For the west side there were hangings of fifty cubits with their ten pillars and their ten bases; the hooks of the pillars and their (F1)bands were of silver.13 For the (F1)east side, fifty cubits.14 The hangings for the one (F1)side of the gate were fifteen cubits, with their three pillars and their three bases,15 and so for the (F1)other (F2)side. (F3)On both sides of the gate of the courtyard were hangings of fifteen cubits, with their three pillars and their three bases.16 All the hangings of the courtyard all around were of fine twisted linen.17 And the bases for the pillars were of bronze, the hooks of the pillars and their (F1)bands, of silver; and the overlaying of their tops, of silver, and all the pillars of the courtyard were furnished with silver (F1)bands.18 Now the curtain of the gate of the courtyard was the work of the (F1)weaver, of (F2)violet, purple, and scarlet material and fine twisted linen. And the length was twenty cubits and the (F3)height was five cubits, corresponding to the hangings of the courtyard.19 Their four pillars and their four bases were of bronze; their hooks were of silver, and the overlaying of their tops and their (F1)bands were of silver.20 All the pegs of the (F1)tabernacle and of the courtyard all around were of bronze.
The Cost of the Tabernacle
21 (F1)This is the number of the things for the (F2)tabernacle, the (F2)tabernacle of the testimony, as they were (F3)counted according to the (F4)command of Moses, for the service of the Levites, by the hand of Ithamar the son of Aaron the priest.22 Now (C1)Bezalel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, made everything that the LORD had commanded Moses.23 With him was (C1)Oholiab the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan, an engraver and a skilled embroiderer, and a (F1)weaver in violet, in purple, and in scarlet material, and fine linen.
24 All the gold that was used for the work, in all the work of the sanctuary, (F1)which was the gold of the wave offering, was twenty-nine (F2)talents and 730 (F3)shekels, according to (C1)the shekel of the sanctuary.25 And (C1)the silver of those of the congregation who were (F1)counted was a hundred talents and 1,775 shekels, according to the shekel of the sanctuary;26 (C1)a beka a head (that is, half a shekel according to the shekel of the sanctuary), assessed to each one who passed over to those who were (F1)counted, from twenty years old and upward, for (C2)603,550 men.27 The hundred talents of silver were used for casting the bases of the sanctuary and the bases of the veil; a hundred bases for the hundred talents, a talent for a base.28 And of the 1,775 shekels, he made hooks for the pillars, and overlaid their tops and made (F1)bands for them.29 And the bronze of the wave offering was seventy talents and 2,400 shekels.30 With it he made the bases to the doorway of the tent of meeting, and the bronze altar and its bronze grating, and all the utensils of the altar,31 and the bases of the courtyard all around and the bases of the gate of the courtyard, and all the pegs of the (F1)tabernacle and all the pegs of the courtyard all around.
Proverbs 17
Chapter 17
Contrast of the Upright and the Wicked
1 (C1)Better is a dry morsel and quietness with it
Than a house full of (F1)feasting with strife.
2 A servant who acts wisely will rule over a son who acts shamefully,
And will share in the inheritance among brothers.
3 The (C1)refining pot is for silver and the furnace for gold,
But (C2)the LORD tests hearts.
4 An (C1)evildoer listens to wicked lips;
A (F1)liar pays attention to a destructive tongue.
5 One who mocks the (C1)poor taunts his Maker;
One who (C2)rejoices at disaster will not go unpunished.
6 (C1)Grandchildren are the crown of the old,
And the (C2)glory of sons is their fathers.
7 (F1)(C1)Excellent speech is not fitting for a fool,
Much less are (C2)lying lips to a prince.
8 A (C1)bribe is a (F1)charm in the sight of its owner;
Wherever he turns, he prospers.
9 One who (C1)conceals an offense seeks love,
But one who repeats a matter (C2)separates close friends.
10 A rebuke goes deeper into one who has understanding
Than a hundred blows into a fool.
11 A rebellious person seeks only evil,
So a cruel messenger will be sent against him.
12 Let a (C1)person meet a (C2)bear robbed of her cubs,
Rather than a fool in his foolishness.
13 One who (C1)returns evil for good,
(C2)Evil will not depart from his house.
14 The beginning of strife is like letting out water,
So (C1)abandon the quarrel before it breaks out.
15 One who (C1)justifies the wicked and one who condemns the righteous,
Both of them alike are an abomination to the LORD.
16 Why is there money in the hand of a fool to (C1)buy wisdom,
When (F1)he has no sense?
17 A (C1)friend loves at all times,
And a brother is born for adversity.
18 A person lacking in (F1)sense (C1)shakes hands
And becomes guarantor in the presence of his neighbor.
19 One who (C1)loves wrongdoing loves strife;
One who (C2)makes his doorway high seeks destruction.
20 One who has a crooked (F1)mind (C1)finds nothing good,
And one who is (F2)(C2)corrupted in his language falls into evil.
21 He who (C1)fathers a fool does so to his sorrow,
And the father of a fool has no joy.
22 A (C1)joyful heart (F1)is good medicine,
But a broken spirit (C2)dries up the bones.
23 A wicked person accepts a (C1)bribe (F1)from an inside pocket
To (C2)pervert the ways of justice.
24 Wisdom is in the presence of one who has understanding,
But the (C1)eyes of a fool are on the ends of the earth.
25 A (C1)foolish son is a grief to his father,
And (C2)bitterness to her who gave birth to him.
26 It is also not good to (C1)fine the righteous,
Nor to strike the noble for their uprightness.
27 One who (C1)withholds his words (F1)has knowledge,
And one who has a (C2)cool spirit is a person of understanding.
28 Even a fool, when he (C1)keeps silent, is considered wise;
When he closes his lips, he is considered prudent.
Matthew 7
Chapter 7
Judging Others
1 "(C1)Do not (F1)judge, so that you will not be judged.2 "For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and (F1)(C1)by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you.3 "Why do you (C1)look at the (F1)speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye?4 "(C1)Or how (F1)can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the (F2)speck out of your eye,' and look, the log is in your own eye?5 "You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the (F1)speck out of your brother's eye!
6 "(C1)Do not give what is holy to dogs, and do not throw your pearls before pigs, or they will trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces.
Prayer and the Golden Rule
7 "(F1)(C1)Ask, and (C2)it will be given to you; (F2)seek, and you will find; (F3)knock, and it will be opened to you.8 "For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.9 "Or what person is there among you (F1)who, when his son asks for a loaf of bread, (F2)will give him a stone?10 "Or (F1)if he asks for a fish, he will not give him a snake, will he?11 "So if you, despite being (F1)evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, (C1)how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!
12 "In everything, (C1)therefore, (F1)treat people the same way you want (F2)them to treat you, for (C2)this is the Law and the Prophets.
The Narrow and Wide Gates
13 "(C1)Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it.14 "For the gate is narrow and the way is constricted that leads to life, and there are few who find it.
A Tree and Its Fruit
15 "Beware of the (C1)false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly are (C2)ravenous wolves.16 "You will (F1)(C1)know them by their fruits. (F2)Grapes are not gathered from thorn bushes, nor figs from thistles, are they?17 "So (C1)every good tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears bad fruit.18 "A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit.19 "(C1)Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.20 "So then, you will (F1)know them (C1)by their fruits.
21 "(C1)Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter.22 "(C1)Many will say to Me on (C2)that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many (F1)miracles?'23 "And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; (C1)LEAVE ME, YOU WHO PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS.'
The Two Foundations
24 "Therefore, (C1)everyone who hears these words of Mine, and (F1)acts on them, will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock.25 "And the rain fell and the (F1)floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and yet it did not fall, for it had been founded on the rock.26 "And everyone who hears these words of Mine, and does not (F1)act on them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand.27 "And the rain fell and the (F1)floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and it fell—and its collapse was great."
28 (F1)(C1)When Jesus had finished these words, (C2)the crowds were amazed at His teaching;29 for He was teaching them as one who had authority, and not as their scribes.
