Chapter 3
The Law of Peace Offerings
1 'Now if his offering is a (C1)sacrifice of peace offerings, if he is going to offer from the herd, whether male or female, he shall offer it (C2)without defect before the LORD.2 'And (C1)he shall lay his hand on the head of his offering and (C2)slaughter it at the doorway of the tent of meeting, and Aaron's sons the priests shall sprinkle the blood around on the altar.3 'From the sacrifice of the peace offerings he shall then present an offering by fire to the LORD, the fat that covers the entrails and all the fat that is on the entrails,4 and the two kidneys with the fat that is on them, which is on the loins, and the (F1)lobe of the liver, which he shall remove with the kidneys.5 'Then (C1)Aaron's sons shall offer it up in smoke on the altar (C2)on the burnt offering, which is on the wood that is on the fire; (C3)it is an offering by fire of a soothing aroma to the LORD.6 'But if his offering for a sacrifice of peace offerings to the LORD is from the flock, he shall offer it, male or female, (C1)without defect.7 'If he is going to offer (C1)a lamb for his offering, then he shall offer it (C2)before the LORD,8 and (C1)he shall lay his hand on the head of his offering and (C2)slaughter it in front of the tent of meeting, and Aaron's sons shall (C3)sprinkle its blood around on the altar.9 'From the (C1)sacrifice of peace offerings he shall then bring as an offering by fire to the LORD, its fat, the entire fat tail which he shall remove close to the backbone, the fat that covers the entrails, and all the fat that is on the entrails,10 and the two kidneys with the fat that is on them, which is on the loins, and the (F1)lobe of the liver, which he shall remove (C1)with the kidneys.11 'Then the priest shall offer it up in smoke (C1)on the altar as (C2)food, an offering by fire to the LORD.
12 'Now if his offering is (C1)a goat, then he shall offer it before the LORD,13 and he shall lay his hand on its head and slaughter it in front of the tent of meeting, and the sons of Aaron shall sprinkle its blood around on the altar.14 'From it he shall present his offering as an offering by fire to the LORD, the fat that covers the entrails and all the fat that is on the entrails,15 and the two kidneys with the fat that is on them, which is on the loins, and the (F1)lobe of the liver, which he shall remove (C1)with the kidneys.16 'The priest shall offer them up in smoke on the altar as food, an offering by fire as a soothing aroma; (C1)all fat is the LORD'S.17 'It is a (C1)permanent statute throughout your generations in all your dwelling places: you shall not eat any fat (C2)or any blood.'"
Chapter 4
The Law of Sin Offerings
1 Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,2 "Speak to the sons of Israel, saying, 'If a person sins (C1)unintentionally in any of the (F1)things which the LORD has (C2)commanded not to be done, and commits any of them,3 (C1)if the anointed priest sins so as to bring guilt on the people, then he is to offer to the LORD a (F1)bull without defect as a sin offering for his sin which he has (F2)committed.4 'He shall bring the bull to the doorway of the tent of meeting before the LORD, and (C1)he shall lay his hand on the head of the bull and slaughter the bull before the LORD.5 'Then the (C1)anointed priest is to take some of the blood of the bull and bring it to the tent of meeting,6 and the priest shall dip his finger in the blood and sprinkle some of the blood seven times before the LORD, in front of (C1)the veil of the sanctuary.7 'The priest shall also put some of the blood on the horns of (C1)the altar of fragrant incense which is before the LORD in the tent of meeting; and all the rest of the blood of the bull he shall pour out at the base of the altar of burnt offering, which is at the doorway of the tent of meeting.8 'And (C1)he shall remove from it all the fat of the bull of the sin offering: the fat that covers the entrails, and all the fat which is on the entrails,9 and the two kidneys with the fat that is on them, which is on the loins, and the (F1)lobe of the liver, which he shall remove (C1)with the kidneys10 (just as it is removed from the ox of the sacrifice of peace offerings); and the priest is to offer them up in smoke on the altar of burnt offering.11 'But (C1)the hide of the bull and all its flesh, along with its head, its legs, its entrails, and its refuse,12 (F1)that is, all the rest of the bull, he is to bring out to (C1)a clean place outside the camp where the fatty ashes are poured out, and burn it on wood with fire; where the fatty ashes are poured out it shall be burned.
13 '(C1)Now if the entire congregation of Israel does wrong unintentionally and the matter (F1)escapes the notice of the assembly, and they commit any of the (F2)things which the LORD has commanded not to be done, and they become guilty;14 (C1)when the sin (F1)which they have (F2)committed becomes known, then the assembly shall offer (C2)a (F3)bull of the herd as a sin offering and bring it in front of the tent of meeting.15 'Then (C1)the elders of the congregation shall lay their hands on the head of the bull before the LORD, and the bull shall be slaughtered (C2)before the LORD.16 'Then the anointed priest is to bring some of the blood of the bull to the tent of meeting;17 and (C1)the priest shall dip his finger in the blood and sprinkle it seven times before the LORD, in front of the veil.18 'He shall then put some of the blood on the horns of (C1)the altar which is before the LORD (F1)in the tent of meeting; and all the rest of the blood he shall pour out at the base of the altar of burnt offering which is at the doorway of the tent of meeting.19 'And (C1)he shall remove all its fat from it and offer it up in smoke on the altar.20 'He shall also do with the bull just as he did with (C1)the bull of the sin offering; he shall do the same with it. So (C2)the priest shall make atonement for them, and they will be forgiven.21 'Then he is to bring the bull out to a place outside the camp and burn it just as he burned the first bull; it is (C1)the sin offering for the assembly.
22 'When (C1)a leader (C2)sins and unintentionally does any of (F1)the things which the LORD his God has commanded not to be done, and he becomes guilty,23 (F1)(C1)if his sin (F2)which he has committed is made known to him, he shall bring as his offering a (F3)(C2)goat, (C3)a male without defect.24 'And he shall lay his hand on the head of the male goat and slaughter it in the place where they slaughter the burnt offering before the LORD; it is a sin offering.25 'Then the priest is to take some of the blood of the sin offering with his finger and put it on (C1)the horns of the altar of burnt offering; and the rest of its blood he shall pour out at the base of the altar of burnt offering.26 'And he shall offer (C1)all its fat up in smoke on the altar as in the case of the fat of the sacrifice of peace offerings. So (C2)the priest shall make atonement for him regarding his sin, and he will be forgiven.
27 'Now if (F1)anyone of the (F2)common people sins (C1)unintentionally by doing any of the (F3)things which the LORD has commanded not to be done, and becomes guilty,28 (F1)(C1)if his sin which he has (F2)committed is made known to him, then he shall bring as his offering a (F3)(C2)goat, a (C3)female without defect, for his sin which he has (F2)committed.29 'And (C1)he shall lay his hand on the head of the sin offering and (C2)slaughter the sin offering at the place of the burnt offering.30 'The priest shall then take some of its blood with his finger and put it on the horns of (C1)the altar of burnt offering; and (C2)all the rest of its blood he shall pour out at the base of the altar.31 '(C1)Then he shall remove all its fat, just as the fat was removed from the sacrifice of peace offerings; and the priest shall offer it up in smoke on the altar as (C2)a soothing aroma to the LORD. So the priest shall make atonement for him, (F1)and he will be forgiven.
32 'But if he brings (C1)a lamb as his offering for a sin offering, he shall bring a female without defect.33 'And (C1)he shall lay his hand on the head of the sin offering and slaughter it as a sin offering (C2)in the place where they slaughter the burnt offering.34 'And the priest is to take some of the blood of the sin offering with his finger and put it on the horns of (C1)the altar of burnt offering, and (C2)all the rest of its blood he shall pour out at the base of the altar.35 'Then he shall remove (C1)all its fat, just as the fat of the lamb is removed from the sacrifice of the peace offerings, and the priest shall offer (F1)it up in smoke on the altar, on the offerings by fire to the LORD. So (C2)the priest shall make atonement for him regarding his sin which he has (F2)committed, and he will be forgiven.
Proverbs 20
Chapter 20
On Life and Conduct
1 (C1)Wine is a mocker, (C2)intoxicating drink a brawler,
And whoever (F1)is intoxicated by it is not wise.
2 The terror of a king is like the roaring of a lion;
One who provokes him to anger (F1)(C1)forfeits his own life.
3 (C1)Avoiding strife is an honor for a person,
But any fool will (F1)quarrel.
4 The (F1)(C1)lazy one does not plow after the autumn,
So he (F2)begs during the harvest and has nothing.
5 A plan in the heart of a person is like deep water,
But a person of understanding draws it out.
6 Many a person (C1)proclaims his own loyalty,
But who can find a (C2)trustworthy person?
7 A righteous person who (C1)walks in his integrity—
(C2)How blessed are his sons after him.
8 (C1)A king who sits on the throne of justice
(F1)Disperses all evil with his eyes.
9 (C1)Who can say, "I have cleansed my heart,
I am pure from my sin"?
10 (F1)(C1)Differing weights and differing measures,
Both of them are abominable to the LORD.
11 It is by his deeds that a boy (F1)(C1)distinguishes himself,
If his conduct is pure and right.
12 The hearing (C1)ear and the seeing eye,
The LORD has made both of them.
13 (C1)Do not love sleep, or you will become poor;
Open your eyes, and you will be satisfied with (F1)food.
14 "Bad, bad," says the buyer,
But when he goes his way, then he boasts.
15 There is gold, and an abundance of (F1)jewels;
But lips of knowledge are a more precious thing.
16 Take his garment when he becomes guarantor for a stranger;
And for foreigners, seize a pledge from him.
17 (C1)Bread obtained by a lie is sweet to a person,
But afterward his mouth will be filled with gravel.
18 Prepare (C1)plans by consultation,
And (C2)make war by wise guidance.
19 One who (C1)goes about as a slanderer reveals secrets;
Therefore do not associate with (F1)(C2)a gossip.
20 He who (C1)curses his father or his mother,
His (C2)lamp will go out in time of darkness.
21 An inheritance gained in a hurry at the beginning
Will not be blessed in the end.
22 (C1)Do not say, "I will repay evil";
(C2)Wait for the LORD, and He will save you.
23 (F1)(C1)Differing weights are an abomination to the LORD,
And a (F2)(C2)false scale is not good.
24 (C1)A man's steps are ordained by the LORD;
How then can a person understand his way?
25 It is a trap for a person to say carelessly, "It is holy!"
And (C1)after the vows to make inquiry.
26 A (C1)wise king scatters the wicked,
And (F1)drives a (C2)threshing wheel over them.
27 The (F1)(C1)spirit of a person is the lamp of the LORD,
Searching all the (F2)innermost parts of his being.
28 (F1)Loyalty and (C1)truth watch over the king,
And he upholds his throne by (F1)loyalty.
29 The glory of young men is their strength,
And the (F1)(C1)honor of old men is their gray hair.
30 (C1)Bruising wounds clean away evil,
And blows cleanse the (F1)innermost parts.
Matthew 9:1-17
Chapter 9
A Paralyzed Man Healed
1 Getting into a boat, Jesus crossed over the Sea of Galilee and came to (C1)His own city.
2 (C1)And they brought to Him a (C2)paralyzed man lying on a stretcher. And seeing their faith, Jesus said to the man who was paralyzed, "(C3)Take courage, (F1)son; (C4)your sins are forgiven."3 And some of the scribes said (F1)to themselves, "This man is (C1)blaspheming!"4 And Jesus, (C1)perceiving their thoughts, said, "Why are you thinking evil in your hearts?5 "For which is easier, to say, '(C1)Your sins are forgiven,' or to say, 'Get up and walk'?6 "But so that you may know that (C1)the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins"—then He (*)said to the (C2)paralyzed man, "Get up, pick up your stretcher and go home."7 And he got up and (F1)went home.8 But when the crowds saw this, they were (F1)awestruck, and they (C1)glorified God, who had given such authority to men.
Matthew Called
9 (C1)As Jesus went on from there, He saw a man called (C2)Matthew sitting in the tax collector's office; and He (*)said to him, "(C3)Follow Me!" And he got up and followed Him.
10 Then it happened that as (F1)Jesus was reclining at the table in the house, behold, many tax collectors and (F2)sinners came and began dining with Jesus and His disciples.11 And when the Pharisees saw this, they said to His disciples, "(C1)Why is your Teacher eating with the tax collectors and sinners?"12 But when Jesus heard this, He said, "It is not (C1)those who are healthy who need a physician, but those who are sick.13 "Now go and learn (F1)(C1)what this means: '(C2)I DESIRE (F2)COMPASSION, (F3)RATHER THAN SACRIFICE,' for (C3)I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners."
The Question about Fasting
14 Then the disciples of John (*)came to Him, asking, "Why do we and (C1)the Pharisees fast, but Your disciples do not fast?"15 And Jesus said to them, "The (F1)attendants of the groom cannot mourn as long as the groom is with them, can they? But the days will come when the groom is taken away from them, and then they will fast.16 "But no one puts a patch of unshrunk cloth on an old garment; for (F1)the patch pulls away from the garment, and a worse tear results.17 "Nor do people put new wine into old wineskins; otherwise the wineskins burst, and the wine pours out and the wineskins are ruined; but they put new wine into fresh wineskins, and both are preserved."<
