Numbers 28-29

Chapter 28

Laws for Offerings

1 Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,2 "Command the sons of Israel and say to them, 'You shall be careful to present to Me My offering, My (C1)food for My offerings by fire, of a soothing aroma to Me, at their appointed time.'3 "(C1)And you shall say to them, 'This is the offering by fire which you shall offer to the LORD: two male lambs one year old without defect as a continual burnt offering every day.4 'You shall offer the one lamb in the morning, and the other lamb you shall offer (F1)at twilight;5 also (C1)a tenth of an ephah of fine flour as a (C2)grain offering, mixed with a fourth of a (F1)hin of pure oil.6 'It is a continual burnt offering which was ordained on Mount Sinai as a soothing aroma, an offering by fire to the LORD.7 'Then the drink offering with it shall be a fourth of a hin for each lamb; (C1)in the Holy Place pour out a drink offering of strong drink to the LORD.8 'The other lamb you shall offer (F1)at twilight; as the grain offering of the morning and as its drink offering, you shall offer it, an offering by fire, a soothing aroma to the LORD.

9 'Then on the Sabbath day two male lambs one year old without defect, and two-tenths of an (F1)ephah of fine flour mixed with oil as a grain offering, and its drink offering:10 'This is the burnt offering of every Sabbath in addition to the (C1)continual burnt offering and its drink offering.

11 'Then (C1)at the beginning of each of your months you shall present a burnt offering to the LORD: two (F1)bulls and one ram, seven male lambs one year old without defect;12 (C1)and three-tenths of an ephah of fine flour mixed with oil as a grain offering, for each bull; and two-tenths of fine flour mixed with oil as a grain offering, for the one ram;13 and a tenth of an ephah of fine flour mixed with oil as a grain offering for each lamb, as a burnt offering of a soothing aroma, an offering by fire to the LORD.14 'Their drink offerings shall be half a hin of wine for a bull and a third of a hin for the ram and a fourth of a hin for a lamb; this is the burnt offering of each month throughout the months of the year.15 'And one male goat as a sin offering to the LORD; it shall be offered with its drink offering in addition to the (C1)continual burnt offering.

16 '(C1)The LORD'S Passover shall be on the fourteenth day of the first month.17 '(C1)On the fifteenth day of this month there shall be a (C2)feast; unleavened bread shall be eaten for seven days.18 'On the (C1)first day there shall be a holy assembly; you shall do no laborious work.19 'But you shall present an offering by fire, a burnt offering to the LORD: two (F1)bulls and one ram, and seven male lambs one year old, that you have (C1)without defect.20 'For their grain offering, you shall offer fine flour mixed with oil: three-tenths of an ephah for a bull, and two-tenths for the ram.21 'A tenth of an ephah you shall offer for (F1)each of the seven lambs;22 and one male goat as a (C1)sin offering to make atonement for you.23 'You shall present these besides (C1)the burnt offering of the morning, which is for a continual burnt offering.24 'In this way you shall present daily, for seven days, (C1)the food of the offering by fire, of a soothing aroma to the LORD; it shall be presented with its drink offering in addition to the (C2)continual burnt offering.25 'On the seventh day you shall have a holy assembly; (C1)you shall do no laborious work.

26 'Also on (C1)the day of the first fruits, when you present a new grain offering to the LORD in your Feast of Weeks, you shall have a holy assembly; (C2)you shall do no laborious work.27 'But you shall offer a burnt offering as a soothing aroma to the LORD: two bulls, one ram, and seven male lambs one year old;28 and as their grain offering, fine flour mixed with oil: three-tenths of an ephah for each bull, two-tenths for the one ram,29 and a tenth for (F1)each of the seven lambs;30 also one male goat to make atonement for you.31 '(C1)Besides the continual burnt offering and its grain offering, you shall present them with their drink offerings. They shall be without (F1)defect.

Chapter 29

Offerings of the Seventh Month

1 '(C1)Now in the seventh month, on the first day of the month, you shall have a holy assembly; (C2)you shall do no laborious work. It will be to you a day for blowing trumpets.2 'And you shall offer a burnt offering as a soothing aroma to the LORD: one (F1)bull, one ram, and seven male lambs one year old without defect;3 also their grain offering, fine flour mixed with oil: three-tenths of an (F1)ephah for the bull, two-tenths for the ram,4 and a tenth for (F1)each of the seven lambs,5 and one male goat as a sin offering, to make atonement for you,6 (C1)besides the burnt offering of the new moon and its grain offering, and the (C2)continual burnt offering and its grain offering, and their drink offerings, according to their ordinance, for a soothing aroma, an offering by fire to the LORD.

7 'Then on (C1)the tenth day of this seventh month you shall have a holy assembly, and you shall humble yourselves; you shall not do any work.8 'You shall present a burnt offering to the LORD as a soothing aroma: one bull, one ram, and seven male lambs one year old, that you have (C1)without defect;9 and their grain offering, fine flour mixed with oil: three-tenths of an ephah for the bull, two-tenths for the one ram,10 and a tenth for each of the seven lambs;11 one male goat as a sin offering, besides (C1)the sin offering of atonement and (C2)the continual burnt offering, and its grain offering, and their drink offerings.

12 'Then on (C1)the fifteenth day of the seventh month you shall have a holy assembly; you (C2)shall do no laborious work, and you shall celebrate with a feast to the LORD for seven days.13 'You shall present a burnt offering, an offering by fire as a soothing aroma to the LORD: thirteen bulls, two rams, and fourteen male lambs one year old, which are without defect;14 and their grain offering, fine flour mixed with oil: three-tenths of an ephah for (F1)each of the thirteen bulls, two-tenths for (F2)each of the two rams,15 and a tenth for each of the fourteen lambs;16 and one male goat as a sin offering, (C1)besides the continual burnt offering, its grain offering, and its drink offering.

17 'Then on (C1)the second day: twelve bulls, two rams, and fourteen male lambs one year old without defect;18 and their grain offering and their drink offerings for the bulls, for the rams, and for the lambs, by their number (C1)according to the ordinance;19 and one male goat as a sin offering, (C1)besides the continual burnt offering and its grain offering, and their drink offerings.

20 'Then on the third day: eleven bulls, two rams, and fourteen male lambs one year old without defect;21 and their grain offering and their drink offerings for the bulls, for the rams, and for the lambs, by their number according to the ordinance;22 and one male goat as a sin offering, besides the continual burnt offering and its grain offering, and its drink offering.

23 'Then on the fourth day: ten bulls, two rams, and fourteen male lambs one year old without defect;24 their grain offering and their drink offerings for the bulls, for the rams, and for the lambs, by their number according to the ordinance;25 and one male goat as a sin offering, besides the continual burnt offering, its grain offering, and its drink offering.

26 'Then on the fifth day: nine bulls, two rams, and fourteen male lambs one year old (C1)without defect;27 and their grain offering and their drink offerings for the bulls, for the rams, and for the lambs, by their number according to the ordinance;28 and one male goat as a sin offering, besides the continual burnt offering and its grain offering, and its drink offering.

29 'Then on the sixth day: eight bulls, two rams, and fourteen male lambs one year old without defect;30 and their grain offering and their drink offerings for the bulls, for the rams, and for the lambs, by their number according to the ordinance;31 and one male goat as a sin offering, besides the continual burnt offering, its grain offering, and its drink offerings.

32 'Then on the seventh day: seven bulls, two rams, and fourteen male lambs one year old without defect;33 and their grain offering and their drink offerings for the bulls, for the rams, and for the lambs, by their number according to the ordinance;34 and one male goat as a sin offering, besides the continual burnt offering, its grain offering, and its drink offering.

35 '(C1)On the eighth day you shall have a sacred assembly; you shall do no laborious work.36 'But you shall present a burnt offering, an offering by fire, as a soothing aroma to the LORD: one bull, one ram, and seven male lambs one year old without defect;37 their grain offering and their drink offerings for the bull, for the ram, and for the lambs, by their number according to the ordinance;38 and one male goat as a sin offering, besides the continual burnt offering and its grain offering, and its drink offering.

39 'You shall present these to the LORD at your (C1)appointed times, besides your vowed offerings and your (F1)voluntary offerings, for your burnt offerings, your grain offerings, your drink offerings, and for your peace offerings.'"40 (F1)And Moses spoke to the sons of Israel in accordance with everything that the LORD had commanded Moses.

Song of Solomon 8:5-14

Chapter 8

5 "(C1)Who is this coming up from the wilderness,
Leaning on her beloved?"

The Bride

"Beneath the (C2)apple tree I awakened you;
There your mother went into labor with you,
There she was in labor and gave birth to you.

6 "Put me like a seal over your heart,
Like a (C1)seal on your arm.
For love is as strong as death,
(F1)(C2)Jealousy is as severe as Sheol;
Its flames are flames of fire,
(F2)The flame of the LORD.

7 "Many waters cannot quench love,
Nor will rivers flood over it;
(C1)If a man were to give all the riches of his house for love,
It would be utterly despised."

The Chorus

8 "We have a little sister,
And she (C1)has no breasts;
What shall we do for our sister
On the day when she is spoken for?

9 "If she is a wall,
We will build on her a battlement of silver;
But if she is a door,
We will barricade her with (C1)planks of cedar."

The Bride

10 "I was a wall, and (C1)my breasts were like towers;
Then I became in his eyes as one who finds peace.

11 "Solomon had a (C1)vineyard at Baal-hamon;
He (C2)entrusted the vineyard to (C3)caretakers.
Each one was to bring a (C4)thousand shekels of silver for its (C5)fruit.

12 "My very own vineyard is (F1)at my disposal;
The thousand shekels are for you, Solomon,
And two hundred are for those who take care of its fruit."

The Groom

13 "You who sit in the gardens:
My (C1)companions are listening for your voice—
(C2)Let me hear it!"

The Bride

14 "(F1)Hurry, my beloved,
And be (C1)like a gazelle or a young (F2)stag
On the (C2)mountains of balsam trees!"

Matthew 24:32-51

Chapter 24

32 "Now learn the parable from the fig tree: as soon as its branch has become tender and sprouts its leaves, you know that summer is near;33 so you too, when you see all these things, (F1)recognize that (F2)He is near, right (C1)at the (F3)door.34 "Truly I say to you, (C1)this generation will not pass away until all these things take place.35 "(C1)Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away.

36 "But (C1)about that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone.37 "For (F1)the (C1)coming of the Son of Man will be (C2)just like the days of Noah.38 "For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, (C1)marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that (C2)Noah entered the ark,39 and they did not (F1)understand until the flood came and took them all away; so will the (C1)coming of the Son of Man be.40 "At that time there will be two men in the field; one (F1)will be taken and one (F1)will be left.41 "(C1)Two women will be grinding at the (F1)(C2)mill; one (F2)will be taken and one (F2)will be left.

Be Ready for His Coming

42 "Therefore (C1)be on the alert, for you do not know which day your Lord is coming.43 "But (F1)be sure of this, that (C1)if the head of the house had known (C2)at what time of the night the thief was coming, he would have been on the alert and would not have allowed his house to be broken into.44 "For this reason (C1)you must be ready as well; for (C2)the Son of Man is coming at an hour when you do not think He will.

45 "(C1)Who then is the (C2)faithful and (C3)sensible slave whom his (F1)master (C4)put in charge of his household slaves, to give them their food at the proper time?46 "Blessed is that slave whom his (F1)master finds so doing when he comes.47 "Truly I say to you that (C1)he will put him in charge of all his possessions.48 "But if that evil slave says in his heart, 'My (F1)master (F2)is not coming for a long time,'49 and he begins to beat his fellow slaves, and he eats and drinks with those habitually drunk;50 then the (F1)master of that slave will come on a day that he does not expect, and at an hour that he does not know,51 and he will (F1)cut him in two and assign (F2)him a place with the hypocrites; in that place there will be (C1)weeping and gnashing of teeth.
