Psalms 130,131,132

Hope in the LORD'S Forgiving Love.

A Song of Ascents.

1 Out of the (C1)depths I have cried to You, LORD.

2 Lord, (C1)hear my voice!
Let (C2)Your ears be attentive
To the (C3)sound of my pleadings.

3 If You, (F1)LORD, were to keep account of guilty deeds,
Lord, who could (C1)stand?

4 But there is (C1)forgiveness with You,
So that You may be (F1)(C2)revered.

5 I wait for the LORD, my (C1)soul waits,
And I (F1)wait (C2)for His word.

6 My soul waits in hope for the Lord
More than the watchmen (C1)for the morning;
Yes, more than the watchmen for the morning.

7 Israel, (C1)wait for the LORD;
For with the LORD there is (C2)mercy,
And with Him is (C3)abundant redemption.

8 And He will (C1)redeem Israel
From all his guilty deeds.

Childlike Trust in the LORD.

A Song of Ascents, of David.

1 LORD, my heart is not (C1)proud, nor my eyes (C2)arrogant;
Nor do I (F1)involve myself in (C3)great matters,
Or in things (C4)too (F2)difficult for me.

2 I have certainly (C1)soothed and quieted my soul;
Like a weaned (C2)child resting (F1)against his mother,
My soul (F1)within me is like a weaned child.

3 Israel, (C1)wait for the LORD
(C2)From this time on and forever.

Prayer for the LORD'S Blessing upon the Sanctuary.

A Song of Ascents.

1 Remember, LORD, in David's behalf,
All (C1)his affliction;

2 How he swore to the LORD
And vowed to (C1)the Mighty One of Jacob,

3 "I certainly will not (F1)enter (C1)my house,
Nor (F2)lie on my bed;

4 I will not (C1)give sleep to my eyes
Or slumber to my eyelids,

5 Until I find a (C1)place for the LORD,
(F1)A dwelling place for (C2)the Mighty One of Jacob."

6 Behold, we heard about it in (C1)Ephrathah,
We found it in the (C2)field of (F1)Jaar.

7 Let's go into His (F1)(C1)dwelling place;
Let's (C2)worship at His (C3)footstool.

8 (C1)Arise, LORD, to Your (C2)resting place,
You and the ark of Your (C3)strength.

9 May Your priests be (C1)clothed with righteousness,
And may Your (C2)godly ones sing for joy.

10 For the sake of Your servant David,
Do not turn away the face of Your (C1)anointed.

11 The LORD has (C1)sworn to David
A truth from which He will not turn back:
"I will set upon your throne one (C2)from the fruit of your body.

12 "If your sons will keep My covenant
And My testimony which I will teach them,
Their sons also will (C1)sit upon your throne forever."

13 For the LORD has (C1)chosen Zion;
He has (C2)desired it as His dwelling place.

14 "This is My (C1)resting place forever;
Here I will (C2)dwell, for I have desired it.

15 "I will abundantly (C1)bless her food;
I will (C2)satisfy her needy with bread.

16 "I will also clothe her (C1)priests with salvation,
And her (C1)godly ones will sing aloud for joy.

17 "I will make the (C1)horn of David spring forth there;
I have prepared a (C2)lamp for My anointed.

18 "I will (C1)clothe his enemies with shame,
But upon himself his (C2)crown will gleam."

1 Corinthians 1

Chapter 1

Appeal to Unity

1 Paul, (C1)called as an apostle of Jesus Christ (F1)by (C2)the will of God, and our (C3)brother (C4)Sosthenes,

2 To (C1)the church of God which is in (C2)Corinth, to those who have been sanctified in Christ Jesus, (F1)saints (C3)by calling, with all who in every place (C4)call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, their Lord and ours:

3 (C1)Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

4 (C1)I thank (F1)my God always concerning you for the grace of God which was given you in Christ Jesus,5 that in everything you were (C1)enriched in Him, in all (C2)speech and (C2)all knowledge,6 just as (C1)the testimony concerning Christ was confirmed (F1)in you,7 so that you are not lacking in any gift, as you eagerly (C1)await the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ,8 (C1)who will also (F1)confirm you to the end, blameless on (C2)the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.9 (C1)God is faithful, through whom you were (C2)called into (C3)fellowship with His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

10 Now (C1)I urge you, (C2)brothers and sisters, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all (F1)agree and that there be no (F2)(C3)divisions among you, but that you be (F3)made complete in (C4)the same mind and in the same judgment.11 For I have been informed concerning you, my brothers and sisters, by Chloe's people, that there are quarrels among you.12 Now I mean this, that (C1)each one of you is saying, "I am (F1)with Paul," (F2)or "I am (F1)with (C2)Apollos," (F2)or "I am (F1)with (F3)(C3)Cephas," (F2)or "I am (F1)with Christ."13 (F1)Has Christ been divided? Paul was not crucified for you, was he? Or were you (C1)baptized (F2)in the name of Paul?14 I am thankful that I (C1)baptized none of you except (C1)Crispus and (C2)Gaius,15 so that no one would say you were baptized (F1)in my name!16 But I did baptize the (C1)household of Stephanas also; beyond that, I do not know if I baptized anyone else.17 (C1)For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel, (C2)not with (F1)cleverness of speech, so that the cross of Christ would not be made of no effect.

The Wisdom of God

18 For the word of the cross is (C1)foolishness to (C2)those who (F1)are perishing, but to us who (F2)are being saved it is (C3)the power of God.19 For it is written:

"(C1)I WILL DESTROY THE WISDOM OF THE WISE,
AND THE UNDERSTANDING OF THOSE WHO HAVE UNDERSTANDING, I WILL CONFOUND."

20 (C1)Where is the wise person? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of (C2)this age? Has God not (C3)made foolish the wisdom of (C4)the world?21 For since in the wisdom of God (C1)the world through its wisdom did not come to know God, (C2)God (F1)was pleased through the (C3)foolishness of the (F2)message preached to (C4)save those who believe.22 For indeed (C1)Jews ask for (F1)signs and Greeks search for wisdom;23 but we preach (F1)(C1)Christ crucified, (C2)to Jews a stumbling block, and to Gentiles (C3)foolishness,24 but to those who are (C1)the called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ (C2)the power of God and (C3)the wisdom of God.25 For the (C1)foolishness of God is wiser than mankind, and (C2)the weakness of God is stronger than mankind.

26 For (F1)consider your (C1)calling, brothers and sisters, that there were (C2)not many wise according to (F2)the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble;27 but (C1)God has chosen the foolish things of (C2)the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of (C2)the world to shame the things which are strong,28 and the (F1)insignificant things of (C1)the world and the despised God has chosen, (C2)the things that are not, so that He may (C3)nullify the things that are,29 so that (C1)no (F1)human may boast before God.30 But it is (F1)due to Him that you are in (C1)Christ Jesus, who became to us (C2)wisdom from God, (F2)and (C3)righteousness and (C4)sanctification, and (C5)redemption,31 so that, just as it is written: "(C1)LET THE ONE WHO BOASTS, BOAST IN THE LORD."
