2 Chronicles 19
Chapter 19
Jehu Rebukes Jehoshaphat
1 Then Jehoshaphat the king of Judah returned in safety to his house in Jerusalem.2 (C1)And Jehu the son of Hanani the seer went out to meet him and said to King Jehoshaphat, "(C2)Should you help the wicked and love those who hate the LORD, and (F1)(C3)by doing so bring wrath on yourself from the LORD?3 "But (F1)(C1)there is some good in you, for (C2)you have removed the (F2)Asheroth from the land and you (C3)have set your heart to seek God."
4 So Jehoshaphat lived in Jerusalem and went out again among the people from Beersheba to the hill country of Ephraim, and (C1)brought them back to the LORD, the God of their fathers.
Reforms Instituted
5 He appointed (C1)judges in the land in all the fortified cities of Judah, city by city.6 He said to the judges, "Consider what you are doing, for (C1)you do not judge for mankind but for the LORD who is with you (F1)when you render judgment.7 "Now then, let the fear of the LORD be upon you; be careful (F1)about what you do, for (F2)the LORD our God will (C1)have no part in injustice (C2)or partiality, or in the taking of a bribe."8 In Jerusalem Jehoshaphat also appointed some (C1)of the Levites and priests, and some of the heads of the fathers' households of Israel, for the judgment of the LORD, and (F1)to judge disputes among the inhabitants of Jerusalem.9 Then he commanded them, saying, "This is what you shall do in the fear of the LORD, faithfully and wholeheartedly.10 "(C1)Whenever any dispute comes to you from your countrymen who live in their cities, between blood and blood, between law and commandment, statutes and ordinances, you shall warn them so that they will not be guilty before the LORD, and (C2)wrath will not come on you and your countrymen. This you shall do and you will not be guilty.11 "Behold, Amariah the chief priest will be over you in (C1)every matter (F1)that pertains to the LORD, and Zebadiah the son of Ishmael, the ruler of the house of Judah, in all that pertains to the king. Also the Levites shall be officers before you. (F2)(C2)Act resolutely, and may the LORD be with the upright."
Psalms 78:38-55
Chapter 78
38 But He, being (C1)compassionate, (F1)(C2)forgave their wrongdoing and did not destroy them;
And often He (F2)(C3)restrained His anger
And did not stir up all His wrath.
39 So (C1)He remembered that they were only (C2)flesh,
A (F1)(C3)wind that passes and does not return.
40 How often they (C1)rebelled against Him in the wilderness
And (C2)grieved Him in the (C3)desert!
41 Again and again they (F1)(C1)tempted God,
And pained the (C2)Holy One of Israel.
42 They (C1)did not remember (C2)His (F1)power,
The day when He (C3)redeemed them from the enemy,
43 When He performed His (C1)signs in Egypt
And His (C2)marvels in the field of Zoan,
44 And (C1)turned their rivers to blood,
And their streams, so that they could not drink.
45 He sent swarms of (C1)flies among them that devoured them,
And (C2)frogs that destroyed them.
46 He also gave their crops to the (C1)grasshopper
And the product of their labor to the (C2)locust.
47 He (F1)destroyed their vines with (C1)hailstones
And their sycamore trees with frost.
48 He also turned their (C1)cattle over to the hailstones,
And their herds to bolts of lightning.
49 He (C1)sent His burning anger upon them,
Fury and indignation and trouble,
A band of (F1)destroying angels.
50 He leveled a path for His anger;
He did not spare their souls from death,
But (C1)turned their lives over to the plague,
51 And (C1)struck all the firstborn in Egypt,
The (C2)first and best of their vigor in the tents of (C3)Ham.
52 But He (C1)led His own people out like sheep,
And guided them in the wilderness (C2)like a flock;
53 He led them (C1)safely, so that they did not fear;
But (C2)the sea engulfed their enemies.
54 So (C1)He brought them to His holy (F1)land,
To this (F2)(C2)hill country (C3)which His right hand had gained.
55 He also (C1)drove out the nations from them
And (C2)apportioned them as an inheritance by measurement,
And had the tribes of Israel dwell in their tents.<
John 13:21-38
Chapter 13
21 When Jesus had said these things, He (C1)became troubled in spirit, and (F1)testified and said, "Truly, truly I say to you that (C2)one of you will (F2)betray Me."22 The disciples began looking at one another, (C1)at a loss to know of which one He was speaking.23 Lying back on (C1)Jesus' chest was one of His disciples, (C2)whom Jesus loved.24 So Simon Peter (*)nodded to this disciple and (*)said to him, "Tell us who it is of whom He is speaking."25 He then simply (C1)leaned back on Jesus' chest and (*)said to Him, "Lord, who is it?"26 Jesus then (*)answered, "That man is the one for whom I shall dip the piece of bread and give it to him." So when He had dipped the piece of bread, He (*)took and (*)gave it to Judas, (C1)the son of Simon Iscariot.27 After (F1)this, (C1)Satan then (C2)entered him. Therefore Jesus (*)said to him, "What you are doing, do it quickly."28 Now none of those reclining at the table knew for what purpose He had said this to him.29 For some were assuming, since Judas (C1)kept the money box, that Jesus was saying to him, "Buy the things we need (C2)for the feast"; or else, that he was to (F1)(C3)give something to the poor.30 So after receiving the piece of bread, he left immediately; and (C1)it was night.
31 Therefore when he had left, Jesus (*)said, "Now (F1)is (C1)the Son of Man (C2)glorified, and (C3)God (F1)is glorified in Him;32 (F1)if God is glorified in Him, (C1)God will also glorify Him in Himself, and will glorify Him immediately.33 "(C1)Little children, I am still with you (C2)a little longer. (C3)You will look for Me; and just as I said to the (F1)Jews, now I also say to you: 'Where I am going, you cannot come.'34 "I am giving you a (C1)new commandment, (C2)that you love one another; (C3)just as I have loved you, that you also love one another.35 "(C1)By this all people will know that you are My disciples: if you have love for one another."
36 Simon Peter (*)said to Him, "Lord, where are You going?" Jesus answered, "(C1)Where I am going, you cannot follow Me now; but (C2)you will follow later."37 Peter (*)said to Him, "Lord, why can I not follow You right now? (C1)I will lay down my life for You."38 Jesus (*)replied, "Will you lay down your life for Me? Truly, truly I say to you, (C1)a rooster will not crow until you deny Me three times.
