2 Chronicles 33
Chapter 33
Manasseh Succeeds Hezekiah in Judah
1 (C1)Manasseh was twelve years old when he became king, and he reigned for fifty-five years in Jerusalem.2 (C1)He did evil in the sight of the LORD according to the abominations of the nations whom the LORD dispossessed before the sons of Israel.3 For (C1)he rebuilt the high places which his father Hezekiah had torn down; (C2)he also set up altars for the Baals and made (F1)Asherim, and he worshiped all the heavenly (F2)lights and served them.4 (C1)He built altars in the house of the LORD of which the LORD had said, "My name shall be (C2)in Jerusalem forever."5 He built altars for all the heavenly (F1)lights in (C1)the two courtyards of the house of the LORD.6 (C1)He also made his sons pass through the fire in the Valley of Ben-hinnom; and he practiced witchcraft, used divination, practiced sorcery, and (C2)dealt with mediums and spiritists. He did much evil in the sight of the LORD, provoking Him to anger.7 Then he put (C1)the carved image of the idol which he had made in the house of God, of which God had said to David and his son Solomon, "(C2)In this house and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen from all the tribes of Israel, I will put My name forever;8 and I will not remove the foot of Israel again from the land (C1)which I have appointed for your fathers, if only they will take care to do everything that I have commanded them according to all the Law, the statutes, and the ordinances given through Moses."9 So Manasseh encouraged Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem to do more evil than the nations whom the LORD destroyed before the sons of Israel.
Manasseh's Idolatry Rebuked
10 So the LORD spoke to Manasseh and his people, but (C1)they paid no attention.11 (C1)Therefore the LORD brought the commanders of the army of the king of Assyria against them, and they captured Manasseh with hooks, (C2)bound him with bronze chains, and led him to Babylon.12 When (C1)he was in distress, he appeased the LORD his God and (C2)humbled himself greatly before the God of his fathers.13 When he prayed to Him, (C1)He was moved by him and heard his pleading, and brought him back to Jerusalem to his kingdom. Then Manasseh (C2)knew that the LORD alone is God.
14 Now after this he built the outer wall of the city of David on the west side of (C1)Gihon, in the valley, up to the entrance of the (C2)Fish Gate; and he encircled the (C3)Ophel with it and made it very high. Then he put army commanders in all the fortified cities in Judah.15 He also (C1)removed the foreign gods and the idol from the house of the LORD, as well as all the altars which he had built on the mountain of the house of the LORD and in Jerusalem, and he threw them outside the city.16 He set up the altar of the LORD and sacrificed (C1)peace offerings and thanksgiving offerings on it; and he ordered Judah to serve the LORD God of Israel.17 However, (C1)the people still sacrificed on the high places, although only to the LORD their God.
18 Now the rest of the acts of Manasseh and (C1)his prayer to his God, and the words of (C2)the seers who spoke to him in the name of the LORD God of Israel, behold, they are among the records of the kings of (C3)Israel.19 His prayer also and (C1)how God was moved by him, and all his sin, his unfaithfulness, and (C2)the sites on which he built high places and erected the (F1)Asherim and the carved images, before he humbled himself, behold, they are written in the records of (F2)Hozai.20 So Manasseh (F1)lay down with his fathers, and they buried him in his own house. And his son Amon became king in his place.
Amon Becomes King in Judah
21 (C1)Amon was twenty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned for two years in Jerusalem.22 He did evil in the sight of the LORD, just as his father Manasseh (C1)had done, and Amon sacrificed to all (C2)the carved images which his father Manasseh had made, and he served them.23 Furthermore, he did not humble himself before the LORD (C1)as his father Manasseh had (F1)done, but Amon multiplied his guilt.24 Finally, (C1)his servants conspired against him and put him to death in his own house.25 But the people of the land (F1)killed all the conspirators against King Amon, and the people of the land made his son Josiah king in his place.

Chapter 89
The LORD'S Covenant with David and Israel's Afflictions.
1 I will (C1)sing of the graciousness of the LORD forever;
To all generations I will (C2)make Your (C3)faithfulness known with my mouth.
2 For I have said, "(C1)Graciousness will be built up forever;
In the heavens You will establish Your (C2)faithfulness."
3 "I have made a covenant with (C1)My chosen;
I have (C2)sworn to My servant David,
4 I will establish your (F1)(C1)descendants forever
And build up your (C2)throne to all generations." Selah
5 The (C1)heavens will praise Your wonders, LORD;
Your faithfulness also (C2)in the assembly of the (C3)holy ones.
6 For (C1)who in the skies is comparable to the LORD?
Who among the (F1)(C2)sons of the mighty is like the LORD,
7 A God (C1)greatly feared in the council of the (C2)holy ones,
And (C3)awesome above all those who are around Him?
8 LORD God of armies, (C1)who is like You, mighty (F1)LORD?
Your faithfulness also surrounds You.
9 You rule the surging of the sea;
When its waves rise, You (C1)calm them.
10 You Yourself crushed (F1)(C1)Rahab like one who is slain;
You (C2)scattered Your enemies with (F2)Your mighty arm.
11 The (C1)heavens are Yours, the earth also is Yours;
The (C2)world and (F1)all it contains, You have established them.
12 The (C1)north and the south, You have created them;
(C2)Tabor and (C3)Hermon (C4)shout for joy at Your name.
13 You have (F1)a strong arm;
Your hand is mighty, Your (C1)right hand is exalted.
14 (C1)Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne;
(C2)Mercy and (F1)truth go before You.
15 Blessed are the people who know the (F1)(C1)joyful sound!
LORD, they walk in the (C2)light of Your face.
16 In (C1)Your name they rejoice all the day,
And by Your righteousness they are exalted.
17 For You are the glory of (C1)their strength,
And by Your favor (F1)our (C2)horn is exalted.
18 For our (C1)shield belongs to the LORD,
(F1)And our king to the (C2)Holy One of Israel.<
John 21
Chapter 21
Jesus Appears at the Sea of Galilee
1 After these things Jesus (F1)(C1)revealed Himself (C2)again to the disciples at the (C3)Sea of Tiberias, and He revealed Himself in this way:2 Simon Peter, (C1)Thomas who was called (F1)Didymus, (C2)Nathanael of (C3)Cana in Galilee, (C4)the sons of Zebedee, and two others of His disciples were together.3 Simon Peter (*)said to them, "I am going fishing." They (*)said to him, "We are also coming with you." They went out and got into the boat; and (C1)that night they caught nothing.
4 But when the day was now breaking, Jesus stood on the beach; yet the disciples did not (C1)know that it was Jesus.5 So Jesus (*)said to them, "Children, (C1)you do not have any fish to eat, do you?" They answered Him, "No."6 And He said to them, "(C1)Cast the net on the right-hand side of the boat, and you will find the fish." So they cast it, and then they were not able to haul it in because of the great quantity of fish.7 (C1)Therefore that disciple whom Jesus loved (*)said to Peter, "It is the Lord!" So when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put on his outer garment (for he was stripped for work), and threw himself into the sea.8 But the other disciples came in the little boat, for they were not far from the land, but about (F1)two hundred cubits away, dragging the net full of fish.
9 So when they got out on the land, they (*)saw a charcoal (C1)fire already (F1)made and (C2)fish placed on it, and bread.10 Jesus (*)said to them, "Bring some of the (C1)fish which you have now caught."11 So Simon Peter went up and hauled the net to land, full of large fish, 153; and although there were so many, the net was not torn.
Jesus Provides
12 Jesus (*)said to them, "Come and have (C1)breakfast." None of the disciples ventured to inquire of Him, "Who are You?" knowing that it was the Lord.13 Jesus (*)came and (*)took (C1)the bread and (*)gave it to them, and the (C2)fish likewise.14 This was now the (C1)third time that Jesus revealed Himself to the disciples, after He was raised from the dead.The Love Question
15 Now when they had (C1)finished breakfast, Jesus (*)said to Simon Peter, "Simon, son of John, do you (F1)(C2)love Me more than these?" He (*)said to Him, "Yes, Lord; You know that I (F2)love You." He (*)said to him, "Tend (C3)My lambs."16 He (*)said to him again, a second time, "Simon, son of John, do you (F1)love Me?" He (*)said to Him, "Yes, Lord; You know that I (F2)love You." He (*)said to him, "(C1)Shepherd My sheep."17 He (*)said to him the third time, "Simon, son of John, do you (F1)love Me?" Peter was (F2)hurt because He said to him (C1)the third time, "Do you (F1)love Me?" And he said to Him, "Lord, (C2)You know all things; You know that I (F1)love You." Jesus (*)said to him, "(C3)Tend My sheep.
Our Times Are in His Hand
18 "Truly, truly I tell you, when you were younger, you used to put on your belt and walk wherever you wanted; but when you grow old, you will stretch out your hands and someone else will put your belt on you, and bring you where you do not want to go."19 Now He said this, (C1)indicating by (C2)what kind of death he would glorify God. And when He had said this, He (*)said to him, "(C3)Follow Me!"20 Peter turned around and (*)saw the (C1)disciple whom Jesus loved following them—the one who also had (C2)leaned back on His chest at the supper and said, "Lord, who is the one who is betraying You?"21 So Peter, upon seeing him, (*)said to Jesus, "Lord, and what about this man?"22 Jesus (*)said to him, "If I want him to remain (C1)until I come, what is that to you? You (C2)follow Me!"23 Therefore this (F1)account went out among (C1)the brothers, that that disciple would not die; yet Jesus did not say to him that he would not die, but only, "If I want him to remain (C2)until I come, what is that to you?"
24 This is the disciple who (C1)is testifying about these things and wrote these things, and we know that his testimony is true.
25 But there are also (C1)many other things which Jesus did, which, if they were written in detail, I expect that even the world itself would not contain the books that would be written.
