Nehemiah 9:38-10:39

Chapter 9

38 "(F1)Now because of all this
(C1)We are making an agreement in writing;
And on the (C2)sealed document are the names of our leaders, our Levites, and our priests."

Chapter 10

Signers of the Document

1 (F1)Now on the (C1)sealed document were the names of: Nehemiah the (F2)governor, the son of Hacaliah, and Zedekiah,2 Seraiah, Azariah, Jeremiah,3 Pashhur, Amariah, Malchijah,4 Hattush, Shebaniah, Malluch,5 Harim, Meremoth, Obadiah,6 Daniel, Ginnethon, Baruch,7 Meshullam, Abijah, Mijamin,8 Maaziah, Bilgai, and Shemaiah. These were the priests.9 And the Levites: Jeshua the son of Azaniah, Binnui of the sons of Henadad, and Kadmiel;10 also their brothers Shebaniah, Hodiah, Kelita, Pelaiah, Hanan,11 Mica, Rehob, Hashabiah,12 Zaccur, Sherebiah, Shebaniah,13 Hodiah, Bani, and Beninu.14 The leaders of the people: Parosh, Pahath-moab, Elam, Zattu, Bani,15 Bunni, Azgad, Bebai,16 Adonijah, Bigvai, Adin,17 Ater, Hezekiah, Azzur,18 Hodiah, Hashum, Bezai,19 Hariph, Anathoth, Nebai,20 Magpiash, Meshullam, Hezir,21 Meshezabel, Zadok, Jaddua,22 Pelatiah, Hanan, Anaiah,23 Hoshea, Hananiah, Hasshub,24 Hallohesh, Pilha, Shobek,25 Rehum, Hashabnah, Maaseiah,26 Ahiah, Hanan, Anan,27 Malluch, Harim, and Baanah.

Obligations of the Document

28 Now (C1)the rest of the people, the priests, the Levites, the gatekeepers, the singers, the temple servants, and (C2)all those who had separated themselves from the peoples of the lands to the Law of God, their wives, their sons, and their daughters, all those who had knowledge and understanding,29 are joining with their kinsmen, their nobles, and are (F1)(C1)taking on themselves a curse and an oath to walk in God's Law, which was given through Moses, God's servant, and to keep and to (F2)comply with all the commandments of (F3)GOD our Lord, and His ordinances and statutes;30 and (C1)that we will not give our daughters to the peoples of the land or take their daughters for our sons.31 As (C1)for the peoples of the land who bring wares or any grain on the Sabbath day to sell, we will not (F1)buy from them on the Sabbath or on any holy day; and we will forgo the crops of the (C2)seventh year and (F2)(C3)every debt.

32 We also imposed (F1)on ourselves the obligation to contribute yearly (C1)a third of a shekel for the service of the house of our God:33 for the (C1)showbread, for the continual grain offering, for the continual burnt offering, the Sabbaths, the new moons, for the appointed times, for the holy things, and for the sin offerings to make atonement for Israel, and all the work of the house of our God.

34 Likewise (C1)we cast lots (C2)for the supply of wood among the priests, the Levites, and the people so that they could bring it to the house of our God, according to our fathers' households, at set times annually, to burn on the altar of the LORD our God, as it is written in the Law;35 and so that they could bring the first fruits of our ground and (C1)the first fruits of all the fruit of every tree to the house of the LORD annually,36 and (C1)bring to the house of our God the firstborn of our sons and of our cattle, and the firstborn of our herds and our flocks as it is written in the Law, for the priests who are ministering in the house of our God.37 (C1)We will also bring the first of our (F1)dough, our contributions, the fruit of every tree, the new wine, and the oil (C2)to the priests at the chambers of the house of our God, and the (C3)tithe of our ground to the Levites, for the Levites are they who receive the tithes in all the rural towns.38 And (C1)the priest, the son of Aaron, shall be with the Levites when the Levites receive tithes, and the Levites shall bring up the tenth of the tithes to the house of our God, to the chambers of (C2)the storehouse.39 For the sons of Israel and the sons of Levi shall bring the (C1)contribution of the grain, the new wine, and the oil to the chambers; the utensils of the sanctuary, the priests who are ministering, the gatekeepers, and the singers are there. So (C2)we will not (F1)neglect the house of our God.

Psalms 102

Chapter 102

Prayer of an Afflicted Man for Mercy on Himself and on Zion.

A Prayer of the afflicted when he is weak and (FA)pours out his complaint before the LORD.

1 (C1)Hear my prayer, LORD!
And let my cry for help (C2)come to You.

2 (C1)Do not hide Your face from me on the day of my distress;
(C2)Incline Your ear to me;
On the day when I call (C1)answer me quickly.

3 For my days (C1)have ended in smoke,
And my (C2)bones have been scorched like a hearth.

4 My heart (C1)has been struck like (F1)grass and has (C2)withered,
Indeed, I (C3)forget to eat my bread.

5 Because of the (F1)loudness of my groaning
My (C1)bones (F2)cling to my flesh.

6 I resemble a (C1)pelican of the wilderness;
I have become like an owl of the ruins.

7 I (C1)lie awake,
I have become like a solitary bird on a housetop.

8 My enemies (C1)have taunted me all day long;
Those who (F1)(C2)deride me (F2)have used my name as a (C3)curse.

9 For I have eaten ashes like bread,
And (C1)mixed my drink with weeping

10 (C1)Because of Your indignation and Your wrath;
For You have (C2)lifted me up and thrown me away.

11 My days are like a (F1)(C1)lengthened shadow,
And (F2)I (C2)wither away like (F3)grass.

12 But You, LORD, (F1)(C1)remain forever,
And Your (F2)(C2)name remains to all generations.

13 You will (C1)arise and have (C2)compassion on Zion;
For (C3)it is time to be gracious to her,
For the (C4)appointed time has come.

14 Surely Your servants (F1)take pleasure in her stones,
And feel pity for her dust.

15 (F1)So the (F2)(C1)nations will fear the name of the LORD,
And (C2)all the kings of the earth, Your glory.

16 For the LORD has (C1)built up Zion;
He has (C2)appeared in His glory.

17 He has (C1)turned His attention to the prayer of the (F1)destitute
And has not despised their prayer.

18 (F1)This will be (C1)written for the (C2)generation to come,
(F2)That (C3)a people yet to be created (F3)may praise (F4)the LORD:

19 For He (C1)looked down from His holy height;
(C2)From heaven the LORD looked (F1)upon the earth,

20 To hear the (C1)groaning of the prisoner,
To (C2)set free (F1)those who were doomed to death,

21 So that people may (C1)tell of the name of the LORD in Zion,
And His praise in Jerusalem,

22 When (C1)the peoples are gathered together,
And the kingdoms, to serve the LORD.

23 He has broken my strength in the way;
He has (C1)shortened my days.

24 I say, "My God, (C1)do not take me away in the middle of my days,
Your (C2)years are (F1)throughout all generations.

25 "In time of old You (C1)founded the earth,
And the (C2)heavens are the work of Your hands.

26 "(F1)Even they will (C1)perish, but You endure;
All of them will wear out like a garment;
Like clothing You will change them and they will pass away.

27 "But You are (F1)(C1)the same,
And Your years will not come to an end.

28 "The (C1)children of Your servants will continue,
And their (F1)(C2)descendants will be established before You."

Revelation 7

Chapter 7

An Interlude

1 After this I saw (C1)four angels standing at the (C2)four corners of the earth, holding back (C3)the four winds of the earth (C4)so that no wind would blow on the earth, or on the sea, or on any tree.2 And I saw another angel ascending (C1)from the rising of the sun, holding the (C2)seal of (C3)the living God; and he called out with a loud voice to the (C4)four angels to whom it was granted to harm the earth and the sea,3 saying, "(C1)Do not harm the earth, or the sea, or the trees until we have (C2)sealed the bond-servants of our God on their (C3)foreheads."

The 144,000

4 And I heard the (C1)number of those who were sealed: (C2)144,000, sealed from every tribe of the sons of Israel:5 from the tribe of Judah, twelve thousand were sealed, from the tribe of Reuben twelve thousand, from the tribe of Gad twelve thousand,6 from the tribe of Asher twelve thousand, from the tribe of Naphtali twelve thousand, from the tribe of Manasseh twelve thousand,7 from the tribe of Simeon twelve thousand, from the tribe of Levi twelve thousand, from the tribe of Issachar twelve thousand,8 from the tribe of Zebulun twelve thousand, from the tribe of Joseph twelve thousand, and from the tribe of Benjamin, twelve thousand were sealed.

A Multitude from the Tribulation

9 After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could count, from (C1)every nation and all the tribes, peoples, and languages, standing (C2)before the throne and (C3)before the Lamb, clothed in (C4)white robes, and (C5)palm branches were in their hands;10 and they (*)cried out with a loud voice, saying, "(C1)Salvation belongs to our God (C2)who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb."11 And all the angels were standing (C1)around the throne and around (C1)the elders and the (C2)four living creatures; and they (C3)fell on their faces before the throne and worshiped God,12 saying, "(C1)Amen, (C2)blessing, glory, wisdom, thanksgiving, honor, power, and might belong to our God forever and ever. (C1)Amen."

13 Then one of the elders (C1)responded, saying to me, "These who are clothed in the (C2)white robes, who are they, and where have they come from?"14 I (F1)said to him, "My lord, you know." And he said to me, "These are the ones who come out of the (C1)great tribulation, and they have (C2)washed their robes and made them (C3)white in the (C4)blood of the Lamb.15 "For this reason they are (C1)before the throne of God, and they (C2)serve Him day and night in His (F1)(C3)temple; and (C4)He who sits on the throne will spread His (C5)tabernacle over them.16 "(C1)They will no longer hunger nor thirst, nor will the sun (F1)beat down on them, nor any scorching heat;17 for the Lamb in the center of the throne will be their (C1)shepherd, and will guide them to springs of the (F1)(C2)water of life; and (C3)God will wipe every tear from their eyes."
