Nehemiah 11

Chapter 11

Time Passes; Heads of Provinces

1 Now (C1)the leaders of the people lived in Jerusalem, but the rest of the people (C2)cast lots to bring one out of ten to live in Jerusalem, (C3)the holy city, while nine-tenths remained in the other cities.2 And the people blessed all the men who (C1)volunteered to live in Jerusalem.

3 (C1)Now these are the heads of the provinces who lived in Jerusalem, but in the cities of Judah (C2)each lived on his own property in their cities—the (F1)Israelites, the priests, the Levites, the (F2)(C3)temple servants, and the (F3)(C4)descendants of Solomon's servants.4 Some of the sons of Judah and some of the sons of Benjamin lived in Jerusalem. From the sons of Judah: Athaiah the son of Uzziah, the son of Zechariah, the son of Amariah, the son of Shephatiah, the son of Mahalalel, of the sons of Perez;5 and Maaseiah the son of Baruch, the son of Col-hozeh, the son of Hazaiah, the son of Adaiah, the son of Joiarib, the son of Zechariah, the son of the Shilonite.6 All the sons of Perez who lived in Jerusalem were 468 able men.

7 Now these are the sons of Benjamin: Sallu the son of Meshullam, the son of Joed, the son of Pedaiah, the son of Kolaiah, the son of Maaseiah, the son of Ithiel, the son of Jeshaiah;8 and after him Gabbai and Sallai, 928.9 Joel the son of Zichri was their overseer, and Judah the son of Hassenuah was second (F1)in command of the city.

10 From the priests: Jedaiah the son of Joiarib, Jachin,11 Seraiah the son of Hilkiah, the son of Meshullam, the son of Zadok, the son of Meraioth, the son of Ahitub, the overseer of the house of God,12 and their kinsmen who did the work of the (F1)temple, 822; and Adaiah the son of Jeroham, the son of Pelaliah, the son of Amzi, the son of Zechariah, the son of Pashhur, the son of Malchijah,13 and his kinsmen, heads of fathers' households, 242; and Amashsai the son of Azarel, the son of Ahzai, the son of Meshillemoth, the son of Immer,14 and their brothers, valiant warriors, 128. And their overseer was Zabdiel, the son of (F1)Haggedolim.

15 Now from the Levites: Shemaiah the son of Hasshub, the son of Azrikam, the son of Hashabiah, the son of Bunni;16 and Shabbethai and Jozabad, from the (F1)leaders of the Levites, who were (F2)in charge of (C1)the outside work of the house of God;17 and Mattaniah the son of Mica, the son of (F1)Zabdi, the son of Asaph, who was the (F2)leader in beginning the thanksgiving at prayer, and Bakbukiah, the second among his kinsmen; and (F3)Abda the son of (F4)Shammua, the son of Galal, the son of Jeduthun.18 All the Levites in (C1)the holy city were 284.

19 Also the gatekeepers: Akkub, Talmon, and their kinsmen who kept watch at the gates, were 172.

Outside Jerusalem

20 The rest of Israel, of the priests and of the Levites, were in all the cities of Judah, each (C1)on his own inheritance.21 But (C1)the temple servants were living in Ophel, and Ziha and Gishpa were (F1)in charge of the temple servants.

22 Now (C1)the overseer of the Levites in Jerusalem was Uzzi the son of Bani, the son of Hashabiah, the son of Mattaniah, the son of Mica, from the sons of Asaph, who were the singers for the (F1)service of the house of God.23 (C1)For there was a commandment from the king concerning them and a royal command for the singers (C2)day by day.24 And Pethahiah the son of Meshezabel, of the sons (C1)of Zerah the son of Judah, was the (C2)king's (F1)representative for every matter concerning the people.

25 Now as for the villages with their fields, some of the sons of Judah lived in (C1)Kiriath-arba and its (F1)towns, in (C2)Dibon and its (F1)towns, and in Jekabzeel and its villages,26 and in Jeshua, in Moladah, and Beth-pelet,27 and in Hazar-shual, in Beersheba and its towns,28 and in Ziklag, in Meconah and in its towns,29 and in En-rimmon, in Zorah, and in Jarmuth,30 Zanoah, Adullam, and their villages, Lachish and its fields, Azekah and its towns. So they camped from Beersheba as far as the Valley of Hinnom.31 The sons of Benjamin also lived from Geba onward, at Michmash and Aija, at Bethel and its towns,32 at Anathoth, Nob, Ananiah,33 Hazor, Ramah, Gittaim,34 Hadid, Zeboim, Neballat,35 Lod, and Ono, the Valley of Craftsmen.36 And from the Levites, some divisions in Judah belonged to Benjamin.

Psalms 103

Chapter 103

Praise for the LORD'S Mercies.

A Psalm of David.

1 (C1)Bless the LORD, my soul,
And all that is within me, bless His (C2)holy name.

2 Bless the LORD, my soul,
And (C1)do not forget any of His benefits;

3 Who (C1)pardons all your guilt,
Who (C2)heals all your diseases;

4 Who (C1)redeems your life from the pit,
Who (C2)crowns you with favor and compassion;

5 Who (C1)satisfies your (F1)years with good things,
So that your youth is (C2)renewed like the eagle.

6 The LORD (C1)performs (F1)righteous deeds
And judgments for all who are (C2)oppressed.

7 He (C1)made known His ways to Moses,
His (C2)deeds to the sons of Israel.

8 The LORD is (C1)compassionate and gracious,
(C2)Slow to anger and abounding in mercy.

9 He (C1)will not always contend with us,
Nor will He (C2)keep His anger forever.

10 He has (C1)not dealt with us according to our sins,
Nor rewarded us according to our guilty deeds.

11 For as high (C1)as the heavens are above the earth,
So great is His mercy toward those who (F1)fear Him.

12 As far as the east is from the west,
So far has He (C1)removed our wrongdoings from us.

13 Just (C1)as a father has compassion on his children,
So the LORD has compassion on those who (F1)fear Him.

14 For (C1)He Himself knows (F1)our form;
He (C2)is mindful that we are nothing but (C3)dust.

15 As for man, his days are (C1)like grass;
Like a (C2)flower of the field, so he flourishes.

16 When the (C1)wind has passed over it, it is no more,
And its (C2)place no longer knows about it.

17 But the (F1)(C1)mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting for those who (F2)fear Him,
And His justice (C2)to the children's children,

18 To (C1)those who keep His covenant
And remember His precepts, so as to do them.

19 The LORD has established His (C1)throne in the heavens,
And His (F1)(C2)sovereignty rules over (F2)all.

20 Bless the LORD, you (C1)His angels,
(C2)Mighty in strength, who (C3)perform His word,
(C4)Obeying the voice of His word!

21 Bless the LORD, all you (C1)His (F1)angels,
You (C2)who serve Him, doing His will.

22 Bless the LORD, (C1)all you works of His,
In all places of His dominion;
Bless the LORD, my soul!

Revelation 8

Chapter 8

The Seventh Seal: Trumpets

1 When the Lamb broke the (C1)seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about half an hour.2 And I saw (C1)the seven angels who stand before God, and seven (C2)trumpets were given to them.

3 (C1)Another angel came and stood at the (C2)altar, holding a (C3)golden censer; and much (C4)incense was given to him, so that he might (F1)add it to the (C4)prayers of all the (F2)saints on the (C5)golden altar which was before the throne.4 And (C1)the smoke of the incense ascended from the angel's hand with the prayers of the (F1)saints before God.5 Then the angel (F1)took the (F2)censer and (C1)filled it with the fire of the altar, and (C2)hurled it to the earth; and there were (C3)peals of thunder and sounds, and flashes of lightning and an (C4)earthquake.

6 (C1)And the seven angels who had the seven trumpets prepared themselves to sound them.

7 The first sounded, and there was (C1)hail and fire mixed with blood, and it was hurled to the earth; and (C2)a third of the earth was burned up, and (C2)a third of the (C3)trees were burned up, and all the green (C3)grass was burned up.

8 The second angel sounded, and something like a great (C1)mountain burning with fire was hurled into the sea; and (C2)a third of the (C3)sea became blood,9 and (C1)a third of the creatures which were in the sea (F1)and had life, died; and a third of the (C2)ships were destroyed.

10 The third angel sounded, and a great star (C1)fell from heaven, burning like a torch, and it fell on a (C2)third of the rivers and on the (C3)springs of waters.11 The star is named Wormwood; and a (C1)third of the waters became (C2)wormwood, and many people died from the waters because they were made bitter.

12 The fourth angel sounded, and a (C1)third of the (C2)sun, a third of the (C2)moon, and a (C1)third of the (C2)stars were struck, so that a (C1)third of them would be darkened and the day would not shine for a (C1)third of it, and the night in the same way.

13 Then I looked, and I heard (F1)an eagle flying in (C1)midheaven, saying with a loud voice, "(C2)Woe, woe, woe to (C3)those who live on the earth, because of the remaining blasts of the trumpet of the (C4)three angels who are about to sound!"
