Chapter 29
Judgment of Egypt
1 In the (C1)tenth year, in the tenth month, on the twelfth of the month, the word of the LORD came to me, saying,2 "Son of man, set your face against (C1)Pharaoh king of Egypt, and prophesy against him and against all (C2)Egypt.3 "Speak and say, 'This is what the Lord (F1)GOD says: "Behold, I am against you, Pharaoh king of Egypt,
The great (F2)(C1)monster that lies in the midst of his (F3)canals,
That (C2)has said, 'My Nile is mine, and I myself have made it.'
4 "I will put (C1)hooks in your jaws
And make the fish of your (F1)canals cling to your scales.
And I will bring you up out of the midst of your (F1)canals,
And all the fish of your (F1)canals will cling to your scales.
5 "I will (C1)abandon you to the wilderness, you and all the fish of your (F1)canals;
You will fall on the (F2)open field; you will not be brought together or (F3)(C2)gathered.
I have given you for (C3)food to the animals of the earth and to the birds of the sky.
6 "Then all the inhabitants of Egypt will know that I am the LORD,
Because they have been only a (C1)staff made of reed to the house of Israel.
7 "When they took hold of you with the hand,
You (C1)broke and tore all their (F1)hands;
And when they leaned on you,
You broke and made all their hips (F2)shake."
8 'Therefore the Lord GOD says this: "Behold, I am going to (C1)bring upon you a sword, and I will cut off from you human and animal life.
9 "The (C1)land of Egypt will become a desolation and place of ruins. Then they will know that I am the LORD.
13 'For this is what the Lord GOD says: "At the end of forty years I will (C1)gather the Egyptians from the peoples (F1)among whom they were scattered.14 "And I will restore the fortunes of Egypt and bring them back to the land of (C1)Pathros, to the land of their origin, and there they will be a lowly kingdom.15 "It will be the (C1)lowest of the kingdoms, and it will not raise itself above the nations again. And I will make them small so that they will not (C2)rule over the nations.16 "And it will no longer be a kingdom on which (C1)the house of Israel relies, (F1)(C2)bringing to mind the guilt of their having turned (F2)to Egypt. Then they will know that I am the Lord GOD."'"
17 Now in the (C1)twenty-seventh year, in the first month, on the first of the month, the word of the LORD came to me, saying,18 "Son of man, (C1)Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon made his army labor (F1)hard against Tyre; every head (F2)had a (C2)bald spot and every shoulder was rubbed raw. But he and his army acquired no wages from Tyre for the labor that he had (F3)performed against it."19 Therefore this is what the Lord GOD says: "Behold, I am going to (C1)give the land of Egypt to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon. And he will carry off her (C2)wealth and capture her spoils and seize her plunder; and it will be wages for his army.20 "I have given him the land of Egypt for his labor which he (F1)(C1)performed, because they acted for Me," declares the Lord GOD.
21 "On that day I will make a (C1)horn sprout for the house of Israel, and I will (F1)(C2)open your mouth among them. Then they will know that I am the LORD."
Chapter 30
Grief over Egypt
1 The word of the LORD came again to me, saying,2 "Son of man, prophesy and say, 'This is what the Lord (F1)GOD says: "(C1)Wail, 'Woe for the day!'
3 "For the day is near,
Indeed, (C1)the day of the LORD is near;
It will be a day of (C2)clouds,
A time of doom for the nations.
4 "A sword will come upon Egypt,
And there will be trembling in (F1)Cush;
When the slain fall in Egypt,
They will (C1)take away her (F2)wealth,
And her foundations will be torn down.
6 'This is what the LORD says:
"Indeed, those who support (C1)Egypt will fall
And the pride of her power will come down;
From Migdol to Syene
They will fall within her by the sword,"
Declares the Lord GOD.
7 "They will be desolate
In the (C1)midst of the desolated lands;
And her cities will be
In the midst of the devastated cities.
8 "And they will (C1)know that I am the LORD,
When I set a (C2)fire in Egypt
And all her helpers are broken.
10 'This is what the Lord GOD says: "(C1)I will also make the (F1)hordes of Egypt cease
By the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon.
11 "He and his people with him,
(C1)The most ruthless of the nations,
Will be brought in to destroy the land;
And they will draw their swords against Egypt
And fill the land with the slain.
12 "Moreover, I will make the (C1)Nile canals dry
And (C2)sell the land into the hands of evil men.
And I will make the land desolate
And (F1)all that is in it,
By the hand of strangers; I the LORD have spoken."
13 'This is what the Lord GOD says: "I will also (C1)destroy the idols
And make the (F1)images cease from (F2)(C2)Memphis.
And there will no longer be a prince in the land of Egypt;
And I will put fear in the land of Egypt.
14 "I will make (C1)Pathros desolate,
Set a fire in (C2)Zoan
And execute judgments on (F1)(C3)Thebes.
15 "I will pour out My wrath on (F1)Sin,
The stronghold of Egypt;
I will also eliminate the hordes of (F2)Thebes.
16 "I will set a fire in Egypt;
(F1)Sin will writhe in anguish,
(F2)Thebes will be breached
And (F3)Memphis will have (F4)distresses daily.
17 "The young men of (F1)(C1)On and of Pi-beseth
Will fall by the sword,
And (F2)the women will go into captivity.
18 "In (C1)Tehaphnehes the day will (F1)be (C2)dark
When I (C3)break there the yoke bars of Egypt.
Then the pride of her power will cease in her;
A cloud will cover her,
And her daughters will go into captivity.
19 "So I will (C1)execute judgments on Egypt,
And they will know that I am the LORD."'"
Victory for Babylon
20 In the (C1)eleventh year, in the first month, on the seventh of the month, the word of the LORD came to me, saying,21 "Son of man, I have (C1)broken the arm of Pharaoh king of Egypt; and, behold, it has not been (C2)bound up (F1)for healing (F2)or wrapped with a bandage, so that it may be strong to wield the sword.22 "Therefore this is what the Lord GOD says: 'Behold, I am (C1)against Pharaoh king of Egypt, and I will break his arms, both the strong and the (C2)broken; and I will make the sword (C3)fall from his hand.23 'And I will (C1)scatter the Egyptians among the nations and disperse them among the lands.24 'For I will (C1)strengthen the arms of the king of Babylon and put (C2)My sword in his hand; and I will break the arms of Pharaoh, so that he will groan before him with the groans of a wounded man.25 'So I will strengthen the arms of the king of Babylon, but the arms of Pharaoh will fail. Then they will know that I am the LORD, when I put My sword into the hand of the king of Babylon and he (C1)reaches out with it against the land of Egypt.26 'When I scatter the Egyptians among the nations and disperse them among the lands, then they will know that I am the LORD.'"
Isaiah 55
Chapter 55
The Free Offer of Mercy
1 "(F1)You there! Everyone who (C1)thirsts, come to the waters;
And you who have (C2)no (F2)money come, buy and eat.
Come, buy (C3)wine and milk
(C4)Without money and without cost.
2 "Why do you (F1)spend money for what is (C1)not bread,
And your wages for what does not satisfy?
Listen carefully to Me, and (C2)eat what is good,
And (C3)delight yourself in abundance.
3 "(C1)Incline your ear and come to Me.
Listen, that (F1)you may (C2)live;
And I will make (C3)an everlasting covenant with you,
According to the (C4)faithful mercies (F2)shown to David.
4 "Behold, I have made (C1)him a witness to the peoples,
A (C2)leader and commander for the peoples.
5 "Behold, you will call a (C1)nation you do not know,
And a nation which does not know you will (C2)run to you,
Because of the LORD your God, the Holy One of Israel;
For He has (C3)glorified you."
6 (C1)Seek the LORD while He may be found;
(C2)Call upon Him while He is near.
7 (C1)Let the wicked abandon his way,
And the unrighteous person his (C2)thoughts;
And let him (C3)return to the LORD,
And He will have (C4)compassion on him,
And to our God,
For He will (C5)abundantly pardon.
8 "For My thoughts are not (C1)your thoughts,
Nor are (C2)your ways My ways," declares the LORD.
9 "For (C1)as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are My ways higher than your ways
And My thoughts than your thoughts.
10 "For as the (C1)rain and the snow come down from heaven,
And do not return there without watering the earth
And making it produce and sprout,
And providing (C2)seed to the sower and bread to the eater;
11 So will My (C1)word be which goes out of My mouth;
It will (C2)not return to Me empty,
Without (C3)accomplishing what I desire,
And without succeeding in the purpose for which I sent it.
12 "For you will go out with (C1)joy
And be led in (C2)peace;
The (C3)mountains and the hills will break into shouts of joy before you,
And all the (C4)trees of the field will clap their hands.
13 "Instead of the (C1)thorn bush, the (C2)juniper will come up,
And instead of the (C3)stinging nettle, the myrtle will come up;
And (F1)it will be a (F2)(C4)memorial to the LORD,
An everlasting (C5)sign which (C6)will not be eliminated."
Colossians 2:20-3:17
Chapter 2
20 (C1)If you have died with Christ (F1)to the (C2)elementary principles of the world, (C3)why, as if you were living in the world, do you submit yourself to (C4)decrees, such as,21 "Do not handle, do not taste, do not touch!"22 (which all refer (C1)to things destined to perish (F1)with use)—in accordance with the (C2)commandments and teachings of man?23 These are matters which do have the (F1)appearance of wisdom in (F2)(C1)self-made religion and humility and (C2)severe treatment of the body, but are of no value against (C3)fleshly indulgence.
Chapter 3
Put On the New Self
1 Therefore, if you have been (C1)raised with Christ, keep seeking the things that are above, where Christ is, (C2)seated at the right hand of God.2 (F1)(C1)Set your minds on the things that are above, not on the things that are on earth.3 For you have (C1)died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.4 When Christ, (C1)who is our life, is revealed, (C2)then you also will be revealed with Him in glory.
5 (C1)Therefore, (F1)treat (C2)the parts of your earthly body as dead to (C3)sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and greed, which (F2)amounts to idolatry.6 For it is because of these things that (C1)the wrath of God is coming (F1)upon the (F2)sons of disobedience,7 and (C1)in them you also once walked, when you were living (F1)in them.8 But now you also, (C1)rid yourselves of all of them: (C2)anger, wrath, malice, slander, and (C3)obscene speech from your mouth.9 (F1)(C1)Do not lie to one another, since you (C2)stripped off the old (F2)self with its evil practices,10 and have (C1)put on the new self, which is being (F1)(C2)renewed to a true knowledge (C3)according to the image of the One who (C4)created it—11 a renewal in which (C1)there is no distinction between Greek and Jew, (C2)circumcised and uncircumcised, (F1)(C3)barbarian, (F2)Scythian, (C4)slave, and free, but (C5)Christ is all, and in all.
12 So, as those who have been (C1)chosen of God, holy and beloved, (C2)put on a (C3)heart of compassion, kindness, (C4)humility, gentleness, and (F1)(C5)patience;13 (C1)bearing with one another, and (C2)forgiving each other, whoever has a complaint against anyone; (C2)just as the Lord forgave you, so must you do also.14 In addition to all these things put on love, which is (F1)(C1)the perfect bond of (C2)unity.15 Let (C1)the peace of Christ, to which you were (F1)indeed called in (C2)one body, (F2)rule in your hearts; and (F3)be thankful.16 Let (C1)the word of (F1)Christ richly dwell within you, (F2)with all wisdom (C2)teaching and admonishing (F3)one another (C3)with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, (C4)singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God.17 (C1)Whatever you do in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, (C2)giving thanks through Him to God the Father.<
