"This is what the Lord says— your Redeemer, who formed you in the womb: I am the Lord , the Maker of all things, who stretches out the heavens, who spreads out the earth by myself,

"You heavens above, rain down my righteousness; let the clouds shower it down. Let the earth open wide, let salvation spring up, let righteousness flourish with it; I, the Lord , have created it.

It is I who made the earth and created mankind on it. My own hands stretched out the heavens; I marshaled their starry hosts.

For this is what the Lord says— he who created the heavens, he is God; he who fashioned and made the earth, he founded it; he did not create it to be empty, but formed it to be inhabited— he says: "I am the Lord , and there is no other.

My own hand laid the foundations of the earth, and my right hand spread out the heavens; when I summon them, they all stand up together.

Shout for joy, you heavens; rejoice, you earth; burst into song, you mountains! For the Lord comforts his people and will have compassion on his afflicted ones.

I clothe the heavens with darkness and make sackcloth its covering."

Lift up your eyes to the heavens, look at the earth beneath; the heavens will vanish like smoke, the earth will wear out like a garment and its inhabitants die like flies. But my salvation will last forever, my righteousness will never fail.

that you forget the Lord your Maker, who stretches out the heavens and who lays the foundations of the earth, that you live in constant terror every day because of the wrath of the oppressor, who is bent on destruction? For where is the wrath of the oppressor?

I have put my words in your mouth and covered you with the shadow of my hand— I who set the heavens in place, who laid the foundations of the earth, and who say to Zion, ‘You are my people.'"

"As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.

Oh, that you would rend the heavens and come down, that the mountains would tremble before you!

"See, I will create new heavens and a new earth. The former things will not be remembered, nor will they come to mind.

"As the new heavens and the new earth that I make will endure before me," declares the Lord , "so will your name and descendants endure.

Be appalled at this, you heavens, and shudder with great horror," declares the Lord .

I looked at the earth, and it was formless and empty; and at the heavens, and their light was gone.

Therefore the earth will mourn and the heavens above grow dark, because I have spoken and will not relent, I have decided and will not turn back."

They will be exposed to the sun and the moon and all the stars of the heavens, which they have loved and served and which they have followed and consulted and worshiped. They will not be gathered up or buried, but will be like dung lying on the ground.

This is what the Lord says: "Do not learn the ways of the nations or be terrified by signs in the heavens, though the nations are terrified by them.

"Tell them this: ‘These gods, who did not make the heavens and the earth, will perish from the earth and from under the heavens.'"
