These all died in faith, not hauing receiued the promises, but hauing seene them a farre off, and were perswaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.

For they that say such things, declare plainly that they seeke a countrey.

And truly if they had been mindfull of that countrey, from whence they came out, they might haue had opportunitie to haue returned:

But now they desire a better countrey, that is, an heauenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to bee called their God: for he hath prepared for the a city.
