Jeremiah Threatened With Death

Early in the reign of Jehoiakim(a) son of Josiah king of Judah, this word came from the Lord :

The priests, the prophets and all the people heard Jeremiah speak these words in the house of the Lord .

This is what the Lord said to me: "Make a yoke(b) out of straps and crossbars and put it on your neck.

The False Prophet Hananiah

In the fifth month of that same year, the fourth year, early in the reign of Zedekiah(a) king of Judah, the prophet Hananiah son of Azzur, who was from Gibeon,(b) said to me in the house of the Lord in the presence of the priests and all the people:

A Letter to the Exiles

This is the text of the letter(a) that the prophet Jeremiah sent from Jerusalem to the surviving elders among the exiles and to the priests, the prophets and all the other people Nebuchadnezzar had carried into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon.(b)

yes, this is what the Lord Almighty says: "I will send the sword, famine and plague(ad) against them and I will make them like figs(ae) that are so bad they cannot be eaten.

‘The Lord has appointed you priest in place of Jehoiada to be in charge of the house of the Lord ; you should put any maniac(at) who acts like a prophet into the stocks(au) and neck-irons.
