A Song of Ascents.

To You I ^(a)lift up my eyes, O You who ^(b)are enthroned in the heavens!

Behold, as the eyes of ^(c)servants look to the hand of their master, As the eyes of a maid to the hand of her mistress, So our ^(d)eyes look to the Lord our God, Until He is gracious to us.

^(e)Be gracious to us, O Lord , be gracious to us, For we are greatly filled ^(f)with contempt.

Our soul is greatly filled With the ^(g)scoffing of ^(h)those who are at ease, And with the ⁽ⁱ⁾contempt of the proud.

A Song of Ascents, of David.

"^(a)Had it not been the Lord who was on our side," ^(b)Let Israel now say,

"Had it not been the Lord who was on our side When men rose up against us,

Then they would have ^(c)swallowed us alive, When their ^(d)anger was kindled against us;

Then the ^(e)waters would have engulfed us, The stream would have ^[a]swept over our soul;

Then the ^(f)raging waters would have ^[b]swept over our soul."

Blessed be the Lord , Who has not given us ^[c]to be ^(g)torn by their teeth.

Our soul has ^(h)escaped ⁽ⁱ⁾as a bird out of the ^(j)snare of the trapper; The snare is broken and we have escaped.

Our ^(k)help is in the name of the Lord , Who ^(l)made heaven and earth.

A Song of Ascents.

Those who trust in the Lord Are as Mount Zion, which ^(a)cannot be moved but ^(b)abides forever.

As the mountains surround Jerusalem, So ^(c)the Lord surrounds His people ^(d)From this time forth and forever.

For the ^(e)scepter of wickedness shall not rest upon the ^[a]land of the righteous, So that the righteous ^(f)will not put forth their hands to do wrong.

^(g)Do good, O Lord , to those who are good And to those who are ^(h)upright in their hearts.

But as for those who ⁽ⁱ⁾turn aside to their ^(j)crooked ways, The Lord will lead them away with the ^(k)doers of iniquity. ^(l)Peace be upon Israel.
