A Song of Ascents.

Remember, O Lord , on David's behalf, All ^(a)his affliction;

How he swore to the Lord And vowed to ^(b)the Mighty One of Jacob,

"Surely I will not ^[a]enter ^(c)my house, Nor ^[b]lie on my bed;

I will not ^(d)give sleep to my eyes Or slumber to my eyelids,

Until I find a ^(e)place for the Lord , ^[c]A dwelling place for ^(f)the Mighty One of Jacob."

Behold, we heard of it in ^(g)Ephrathah, We found it in the ^(h)field of ^[d]Jaar.

Let us go into His ^[e](i)dwelling place; Let us ^(j)worship at His ^(k)footstool.

^(l)Arise, O Lord , to Your ^(m)resting place, You and the ark of Your ⁽ⁿ⁾strength.

Let Your priests be ^(o)clothed with righteousness, And let Your ^(p)godly ones sing for joy.

For the sake of David Your servant, Do not turn away the face of Your ^(q)anointed.

The Lord has ^(r)sworn to David A truth from which He will not turn back: "^(s)Of the fruit of your body I will set upon your throne.

"If your sons will keep My covenant And My testimony which I will teach them, Their sons also shall ^(t)sit upon your throne forever."

For the Lord has ^(u)chosen Zion; He has ^(v)desired it for His habitation.

"This is My ^(w)resting place forever; Here I will ^(x)dwell, for I have desired it.

"I will abundantly ^(y)bless her provision; I will ^(z)satisfy her needy with bread.

"Her ^(aa)priests also I will clothe with salvation, And her ^(ab)godly ones will sing aloud for joy.

"There I will cause the ^(ac)horn of David to spring forth; I have prepared a ^(ad)lamp for Mine anointed.

"His enemies I will ^(ae)clothe with shame, But upon himself his ^(af)crown shall shine."

A Song of Ascents, of David.

Behold, how good and how pleasant it is For ^(a)brothers to dwell together in unity!

It is like the precious ^(b)oil upon the head, Coming down upon the beard, Even Aaron's beard, Coming down upon the ^(c)edge of his robes.

It is like the ^(d)dew of ^(e)Hermon Coming down upon the ^(f)mountains of Zion; For there the Lord ^(g)commanded the blessing—^(h)life forever.

Behold, ^(a)bless the Lord , all ^(b)servants of the Lord , Who ^[a](c)serve ^(d)by night in the house of the Lord !

^(e)Lift up your hands to the ^(f)sanctuary And bless the Lord .

May the Lord ^(g)bless you from Zion, He who ^(h)made heaven and earth.

^[a](a)Praise ^[b]the Lord ! Praise the name of the Lord ; Praise Him, O ^(b)servants of the Lord ,

You who stand in the house of the Lord , In the ^(c)courts of the house of our God!

^[c]Praise ^[d]the Lord , for ^(d)the Lord is good; ^(e)Sing praises to His name, ^(f)for it is lovely.

For ^[e]the Lord has ^(g)chosen Jacob for Himself, Israel for His ^[f](h)own possession.

For I know that ⁽ⁱ⁾the Lord is great And that our Lord is ^(j)above all gods.

^(k)Whatever the Lord pleases, He does, In heaven and in earth, in the seas and in all deeps.

^[g]He ^(l)causes the ^[h]vapors to ascend from the ends of the earth; Who ^(m)makes lightnings for the rain, Who ⁽ⁿ⁾brings forth the wind from His treasuries.

^[i]He ^(o)smote the firstborn of Egypt, ^[j]Both of man and beast.

^[k]He sent ^(p)signs and wonders into your midst, O Egypt, Upon ^(q)Pharaoh and all his servants.

^[l](r)He ^(s)smote many nations And slew mighty kings,

^(t)Sihon, king of the Amorites, And ^(u)Og, king of Bashan, And ^(v)all the kingdoms of Canaan;

And He ^(w)gave their land as a heritage, A heritage to Israel His people.

Your ^(x)name, O Lord , is everlasting, Your ^[m]remembrance, O Lord , ^[n]throughout all generations.

For the Lord will ^(y)judge His people And ^(z)will have compassion on His servants.
