NAS – Now then, since it was the day of preparation, to prevent the bodies from remaining on the cross on the Sabbath (for that Sabbath was a high day), the Jews requested of Pilate that their legs be broken, and {the bodies} be taken away.
NA26 – Οἱ οὖν Ἰουδαῖοι, ἐπεὶ παρασκευὴ ἦν, (5713) ἵνα μὴ μείνῃ (5661) ἐπὶ τοῦ σταυροῦ τὰ σώματα ἐν τῷ σαββάτῳ, ἦν (5713) γὰρ μεγάλη ἡ ἡμέρα ἐκείνου τοῦ σαββάτου, ἠρώτησαν (5656) τὸν Πιλᾶτον ἵνα κατεαγῶσιν (5652) αὐτῶν τὰ σκέλη καὶ ἀρθῶσιν. (5686)
WH – οι ουν ιουδαιοι επει παρασκευη ην (5707) ινα μη μεινη (5661) επι του σταυρου τα σωματα εν τω σαββατω ην (5707) γαρ μεγαλη η ημερα εκεινου του σαββατου ηρωτησαν (5656) τον πιλατον ινα κατεαγωσιν (5652) αυτων τα σκελη και αρθωσιν (5686)

NAS – Now after these things Joseph of Arimathea, being a disciple of Jesus, but a secret {one} for fear of the Jews, requested of Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus; and Pilate granted permission. So he came and took away His body.
NA26 – Μετὰ δὲ ταῦτα ἠρώτησεν (5656) τὸν Πιλᾶτον Ἰωσὴφ ὁ ἀπὸ Ἁριμαθαίας, ὢν (5752) μαθητὴς τοῦ Ἰησοῦ κεκρυμμένος (5772) δὲ διὰ τὸν φόβον τῶν Ἰουδαίων, ἵνα ἄρῃ (5661) τὸ σῶμα τοῦ Ἰησοῦ· καὶ ἐπέτρεψεν (5656) ὁ Πιλᾶτος. ἦλθεν (5627) οὖν καὶ ἦρεν (5656) τὸ σῶμα αὐτοῦ.
