NAS – Now then, since it was the day of preparation, to prevent the bodies from remaining on the cross on the Sabbath (for that Sabbath was a high day), the Jews requested of Pilate that their legs be broken, and {the bodies} be taken away.
NA26 – Οἱ οὖν Ἰουδαῖοι, ἐπεὶ παρασκευὴ ἦν, (5713) ἵνα μὴ μείνῃ (5661) ἐπὶ τοῦ σταυροῦ τὰ σώματα ἐν τῷ σαββάτῳ, ἦν (5713) γὰρ μεγάλη ἡ ἡμέρα ἐκείνου τοῦ σαββάτου, ἠρώτησαν (5656) τὸν Πιλᾶτον ἵνα κατεαγῶσιν (5652) αὐτῶν τὰ σκέλη καὶ ἀρθῶσιν. (5686)
WH – οι ουν ιουδαιοι επει παρασκευη ην (5707) ινα μη μεινη (5661) επι του σταυρου τα σωματα εν τω σαββατω ην (5707) γαρ μεγαλη η ημερα εκεινου του σαββατου ηρωτησαν (5656) τον πιλατον ινα κατεαγωσιν (5652) αυτων τα σκελη και αρθωσιν (5686)

NAS – Therefore because of the Jewish day of preparation, since the tomb was nearby, they laid Jesus there.
NA26 – ἐκεῖ οὖν διὰ τὴν παρασκευὴν τῶν Ἰουδαίων, ὅτι ἐγγὺς ἦν (5713) τὸ μνημεῖον, ἔθηκαν (5656) τὸν Ἰησοῦν.
WH – εκει ουν δια την παρασκευην των ιουδαιων οτι εγγυς ην (5707) το μνημειον εθηκαν (5656) τον ιησουν
