¹The boy Samuel served the Lord in Eli’s presence. In those days the word of the Lord was rare and prophetic visions were not widespread. ¹ The child Shemu'el ministered to the LORD before `Eli. The word of the LORD was precious in those days; there was no frequent vision. ¹ And the child Samuel ministered unto the Lord before Eli. And the word of the Lord was precious in those days; there was no open vision. ¹ Now the boy Samuel was serving Yahweh in the presence of Eli. The word of Yahweh was rare in those days; visions were not widespread. ¹ Now the boy Samuel was ministering to the Lord in the presence of Eli.
