17The fourth lot fell to [the tribe of] Issachar, to the sons of Issachar according to their families. 18Their territory included: Jezreel and Chesulloth and Shunem, 19and Hapharaim and Shion and Anaharath,20and Rabbith and Kishion and Ebez, 21and Remeth and En-gannim and En-haddah and Beth-pazzez. 22The border reached to Tabor and Shahazumah and Beth-shemesh, and their border ended at the Jordan; sixteen cities with their villages. 23This was the inheritance of the tribe of the sons of Issachar according to their families, the cities and their villages.

"Please listen, your servant has found favor in your sight, and you have magnified your lovingkindness (mercy) to me by saving my life; but I cannot escape to the mountains, because the disaster will overtake me and I will be killed.

"Hurry and take refuge there, for I cannot do anything [to punish Sodom] until you arrive there." For this reason the town was named Zoar (few, small).

and He overthrew (demolished, ended) those cities, and the entire valley, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and whatever grew on the ground.

Gill's Notes on the Bible

And Hapharaim,.... The first of these is by Jerom y called Aphraim, a city of the tribe of Issachar; and adds, there is at this day a village called Affarea, six miles from Legion to the north;

and Shion; of Seon or Soen, the same with Shion here, he says z, there was a village of this name shown in his time near Mount Tabor;

and Anaharath, of which we have no account elsewhere.
