When David learned that Saul was plotting evil against him, he said to the priest Abiathar, “Bring the ephod.”
David knew that Sha'ul was devising mischief against him; and he said to Avyatar the Kohen, Bring here the efod.
And David knew that Saul secretly practised mischief against him; and he said to Abiathar the priest, Bring hither the ephod.
When David learned that Saul was plotting evil against him, he said to Abiathar the priest, "Bring the ephod here."
David knew that Saul was plotting harm against him. And he said to Abiathar the priest, "Bring the ephod here."
David learned Saul was making evil plans against him. So he said to Abiathar the priest, "Bring the holy vest."
When David realized that Saul was planning to harm him, he told Abiathar the priest, "Bring the ephod!"
But David knew that Saul was plotting evil against him; and he said to Abiathar the priest, "Bring the ephod here."
But David knew that Saul was plotting evil against him; so he said to Abiathar the priest, "Bring the ephod here."
And Dauid hauing knowledge that Saul imagined mischiefe against him, saide to Abiathar the Priest, Bring the Ephod.

And it was clear to David that Saul had evil designs against him, and he said to Abiathar the priest, Come here with the ephod.
And Dauid hauing knowledge that Saul imagined mischiefe agaynst him, sayde to Abiathar the priest: Bring the Ephod.
And David knew that Saul devised mischief against him; and he said to Abiathar the priest: 'Bring hither the ephod.'
And Dauid knewe that Saul secretly practised mischiefe against him, and hee said to Abiathar the Priest, Bring hither the Ephod.
And David knew that Saul spoke openly of mischief against him: and David said to Abiathar the priest, Bring the ephod of the Lord.
And David knew that Saul devised mischief against him; and he said to Abiathar the priest, Bring hither the ephod.

And whanne Dauid perceyuede, that Saul made redi yuel priueli to hym, he seide to Abiathar, preest, Brynge hidur ephoth.
And David knoweth that against him Saul is devising the evil, and saith unto Abiathar the priest, `Bring nigh the ephod.'
And David knew that Saul was devising mischief against him; and he said to Abiathar the priest, Bring here the ephod.

When David learned that Saul was plotting evil against him, he said to the priest Abiathar, "Bring the ephod here."
And David ascertained that, against him, Saul was contriving mischief, - so he said unto Abiathar the priest, Bring hither the ephod.
Now when David understood that Saul secretly prepared evil against him, he said to Abiathar, the priest: Bring hither the ephod.
David knew that Saul was plotting evil against him; and he said to Abi'athar the priest, "Bring the ephod here."
But David got wind of Saul's strategy to destroy him and said to Abiathar the priest, "Get the Ephod." Then David prayed to God : "God of Israel, I've just heard that Saul plans to come to Keilah and destroy the city because of me. Will the city fathers of Keilah turn me over to him? Will Saul come down and do what I've heard? O God , God of Israel, tell me!" God replied, "He's coming down."
Now David knew that Saul was plotting evil against him; so he said to Abiathar the priest, "Bring the ephod here."

And. David knew that Saul secretly practised mischief against him,.... That is, plotted and contrived it, formed schemes in order to do him mischief, giving out one thing, and designing another; so he pretended war against the Philistines, but his intention was to come against Keilah, and take David there:
and he said to Abiathar the priest, bring hither the ephod; not for David to put on, but for the priest himself, that being clothed with it, and the Urim and Thummim in it, he might inquire for him of the Lord.

Verse 1 Samuel 23:9. Bring hither the ephod. — It seems as if David himself, clothed with the ephod, had consulted the Lord; and 1 Samuel 23:10-12 contain the words of the consultation, and the Lord's answer. But see on 1 Samuel 23:2.
