You are a wise man, and you will know what you should do to him — you will bring his gray head down to the grave with blood." 10 Then David slept with his ancestors and was buried in the City of David.

Forty years - In all forty years and six months. See 2 Samuel 5:5, and 1 Chronicles 3:4. The Jewish writers almost universally omit the fractions of a year.
