Cross-References
Abraham was 100 years old when his son Isaac was born.
Sarah said, "God has made me happy, and everyone who hears about this will be happy with me.
Then she walked a short distance away and sat down. She thought her son would die because there was no water. She did not want to watch him die. She sat there and began to cry.
God heard the boy crying, and God's angel called to Hagar from heaven. He said, "What is wrong, Hagar? Don't be afraid! God has heard the boy crying there.
God continued to be with the boy while he grew up. Ishmael lived in the desert and became a hunter. He learned to shoot a bow very well.
So after that, the well was called Beersheba. Abraham gave the well this name because it was the place where they made a promise to each other.
Then the Lord allowed Balaam to see the angel. The Lord 's angel was standing in the road, holding a sword in his hand. Balaam bowed low to the ground.
Gill's Notes on the Bible
And from Mattanah to Nahaliel, and from Nahaliel to Bamoth. All the Targums interpret this, and the following verse, not of the journeying of the children of Israel, but of the motion of the well, that that, from the place from whence it was given them, descended with them into the valleys, and from thence to the high places, as these words signify: and indeed those places are not mentioned in the journeys of the children of Israel, Numbers 33:1 and were not stations where they pitched, but places they passed through before they came to Abarim, and the wilderness of Kedemoth.
Barnes' Notes on the Bible
Nahaliel - i. e. “brook of God;” the modern Wady Enkheileh. The Israelites must have crossed the stream not much above Ar.
Bamoth - Otherwise Bamoth-baal, “the high places of Baal” Numbers 22:41 : mentioned as near Dibon (Dhiban) in Joshua 13:17, and Isaiah 15:2. See Numbers 32:34.
