Contextual Overview
1 When we had torn ourselves away from them, we sailed straight to Cos, and the next day to Rhodes, and from there to Patara.Patara and Myra">[fn] 2 There we found a ship going across to Phoenecia, so we went aboard and sailed away. 3 We came in sight of Cyprus, and leaving it on our left we sailed on to Syria and landed at Tyre because the ship was to unload its cargo there. 4 So we looked up the disciples and stayed there for seven days. Through the Spirit they kept telling Paul not to go to Jerusalem,Acts 20:23; 21:12;">[xr] 5 but when our days there were ended we left and proceeded on our journey. All of them with their wives and children accompanied us out of the city. We knelt on the beach, prayed,Acts 20:36;">[xr] 6 and said goodbye to each other. Then we went aboard the ship, and they went back home.John 1:11;">[xr] 7 On finishing the voyage from Tyre, we arrived at Ptolemais, greeted the brothers, and stayed with them for one day.

Gill's Notes on the Bible
And finding a ship sailing over unto Phoenicia,.... For it seems that the ship they went aboard at Assos, Acts 20:13 went no further, at least in the way the apostle was going, than Patara; but lighting on another ship, which was bound for Phoenicia, for the city of Tyre, which bordered on the land of Israel, and indeed originally belonged to Canaan; see Acts 11:19.
we went aboard; the said ship:
and set forth; on the voyage.
