If he thrust him of hatred, or hurled at him, lying in wait, so that he died,
But if he thrust him of hatred, or hurl at him by laying of wait, that he die;
If he shoves him in hatred, or he throws something at him with intention, and he dies,
And if he pushed him out of hatred or hurled something at him, lying in wait, so that he died,
A person might shove someone or throw something at someone and cause death.
"But if he strikes him out of hatred or throws something at him intentionally so that he dies,
'But if he pushed his victim out of hatred or threw something at him with malicious intent, and he died,
'Now if he pushed him in hatred, or he threw something at him with malicious intent, and as a result he died,
But if hee thrust him of hate, or hurle at him by laying of wait, that he die,
And if he pushed him of hatred or threw something at him lying in wait and as a result he died,
Or suppose you get angry and kill someone by pushing or hitting or by throwing something. You are a murderer and must be put to death by one of the victim's relatives.
Likewise, if he shoves him out of hatred; or intentionally throws something at him, causing his death;
And if he thrust at him out of hatred, or hurl at him intentionally, so that he die,
"You might hit someone with your hand or push someone or throw something at them and kill them. If you did that from hate, you are a murderer, and you must be killed. A member of the dead person's family can chase you and kill you.
But if he wound him because of hatred, or shoot an arrow at him by lying in wait, that he might die, he is a murderer;
"If you hate someone and kill him by pushing him down or by throwing something at him
Likewise, if anyone in hatred pushes a person or throws an object at him with malicious intent and he dies,
And if he pushes him down, or has thrown at him by lying in wait, and he dies;
Yf he thrust at him of hate, or cast ought at him with laienge of wayte, or smyte him of envye wt his hande, that he dye,
And if he thrust him of hatred, or hurled at him, lying in wait, so that he died,
If in his hate he put a sword through him, or waiting secretly for him sent a spear or stone at him, causing his death;
But if he thrust hym of hate, or hurle at hym by laying of wayte, that he dye,
And if he thrust him of hatred, or hurled at him any thing, lying in wait, so that he died;
And if he should thrust him through enmity, or cast any thing upon him from an ambuscade, and the man should die,
And if he thrust him of hatred, or hurled at him, lying in wait, so that he died;
Likewise, if anyone maliciously pushes another or intentionally throws an object at him and kills him,
If bi haterede a man hurtlith, `ethir schoufith, `a man, ethir castith ony thing in to hym bi aspiyngis,
`And if in hatred he thrust him through, or hath cast [anything] at him by lying in wait, and he dieth;
And if he thrusts him of hatred, or hurled at him, lying in wait, so that he died,
But if he shall thrust him of hatred, or hurl at him by laying in wait, that he die.

So if someone hates another person and waits in ambush, then pushes him or throws something at him and he dies, it is murder.
If the killer has pushed him because he hated him, or has thrown something at him after waiting for him, and because of this he died,
Likewise, if someone pushes another from hatred, or hurls something at another, lying in wait, and death ensues,
Or if with hate, he shall thrust at him, or hurl at him designedly, and he have died,
If through hatred any one push a man, or fling any thing at him with ill design:
And if he stabbed him from hatred, or hurled at him, lying in wait, so that he died,
"And if out of sheer hatred a man pushes another or from ambush throws something at him and he dies, or angrily hits him with his fist and kills him, that's murder—he must be put to death. The avenger has a right to kill him when he gets him.
'If he pushed him of hatred, or threw something at him lying in wait and as a result he died,

But if he thrust him of hatred,.... Or, "and if" r, since the Scripture is still speaking of such that shall die for murder, though in another instance, without having the privilege of a city of refuge; if he thrusts him with a sword or knife, or rather, since, if anything of that kind is included in the first instance of smiting with an instrument of iron, push him down from an high place, as Aben Ezra; so the men of Nazareth intended to have dispatched Christ in that way, Luke 4:29
or hurl at him by lying in wait, that he die; as a bowing wall, as the same writer instances in, push down that upon him as he passes along, lying in wait for him; or throws anything at him, with an intention to kill him, and does; or casts down anything upon him, a large stone, or anything else, by which he dies.

Barnes' Notes on the Bible
The sense is: Inasmuch as to take another man’s life by any means whatsoever is murder, and exposes the murderer to the penalty of retaliation; so, if the deed is done in hostility, it is in truth actual murder, and the murderer shall be slain; but if it be not done in hostility, then the congregation shall interpose to stop the avenger’s hand.

When he meeteth him - Provided, of course, it were without a city of refuge.

The case of the innocent slayer is here contemplated. In a doubtful case there would necessarily have to be a judicial decision as to the guilt or innocence of the person who claimed the right of asylum.
Numbers 35:25
The homicide was safe only within the walls of his city of refuge. He became a virtual exile from his home. The provisions here made serve to mark the gravity of the act of manslaughter, even when not premeditated; and the inconveniences attending on them fell, as is right and fair, upon him who committed the deed.
Unto the death of the high priest - The atoning death of the Saviour cast its shadow before on the statute-book of the Law and on the annals of Jewish history. The high priest, as the head and representative of the whole chosen family of sacerdotal mediators, as exclusively entrusted with some of the chief priestly functions, as alone privileged to make yearly atonement within the holy of holies, and to gain, from the mysterious Urim and Thummim, special revelations of the will of God, was, preeminently, a type of Christ. And thus the death of each successive high priest presignified that death of Christ by which the captives were to be freed, and the remembrance of transgressions made to cease.
