Speaking to the talmidim, Yeshua said: "There was a wealthy man who employed a general manager. Charges were brought to him that his manager was squandering his resources.
And he said also to [his] disciples, There was a certain rich man who had a steward, and *he* was accused to him as wasting his goods.
He said also to his talmidim, "There was a certain rich man, who had a manager. The same was accused to him of wasting his possessions.

Sus discípulos - La palabra "discípulos", aquí, no debe restringirse a los doce apóstoles ni a los setenta. Verso Lucas 16:1. Un administrador... οικονομος, de οικος, una casa, o οικια, una familia, y νεμω, administro; el que supervisa los asuntos domésticos, y ministra al mantenimiento de la familia, teniendo los productos del campo, los negocios, etc., puestos en sus manos para este mismo propósito. Lucas 8:3.
Hay una parábola muy parecida a esta en Rab. Dav. Comentario de Kimchi sobre Isaías, Isaías 40:21:
"El mundo entero puede considerarse como una casa edificada: el cielo es su techo, las estrellas sus lámparas, y los frutos de la tierra, la mesa extendida. El dueño y constructor de esta casa es el santo y bendito Dios; y el hombre es el administrador, en cuyas manos están todos los asuntos de la casa. Si considera en su corazón que el dueño de la casa está siempre sobre él, y vigila su trabajo; y si, en consecuencia, actúa con sabiduría, encontrará el favor a los ojos del dueño de la casa; pero si el dueño encuentra maldad en él, lo apartará, מן יפקדתו min pakidato, de su ADMINISTRACIÓN. El mayordomo insensato no piensa en esto, pues como sus ojos no ven al señor de la casa, dice en su corazón: "Comeré y beberé lo que encuentre en esta casa, y me deleitaré en ella; ni me cuidaré de si hay o no un señor sobre esta casa. Cuando el Señor de la casa observe esto, vendrá y lo expulsará de la casa, rápidamente y con gran ira. Por eso está escrito: Él hace desaparecer a los príncipes". Como es habitual, nuestro Señor ha mejorado mucho esta parábola, y la ha hecho en toda circunstancia más llamativa e impresionante. Tanto en la edición judía como en la cristiana, tiene grandes bellezas.
Malgastó sus bienes... Había sido profuso y derrochador; y había malversado los bienes de su señor.
