Cross-References
These are the generations of Noah. Noah was a righteous man, without defect in his generations. Noah walked with God.
You must make a roof for the ark, and finish it to a cubit above. And as for the door of the ark, you must put it in its side. You must make it with a lower, second, and a third deck.
Then Yahweh said to Noah, "Go—you and all your household—into the ark, for I have seen you are righteous before me in this generation.
And Noah and his sons and his wife, and the wives of his sons with him, went into the ark because of the waters of the flood.
On this same day, Noah, Shem, Ham, and Japheth, the sons of Noah, and the wife of Noah and the three wives of his sons with them, went into the ark,
"As for me, behold, my covenant shall be with you, and you shall be the father of a multitude of nations.
And I will establish my covenant between me and you, and between your offspring after you, throughout their generations as an everlasting covenant to be as God for you and to your offspring after you.
But my covenant I will establish with Isaac, whom Sarah shall bear to you at this appointed time next year."
Go, my people, enter into your chambers and shut your doors behind you; hide for a very little while, until the wrath has passed over.
By faith Noah, having been warned about things not yet seen, out of reverence constructed an ark for the deliverance of his family, by which he pronounced sentence on the world and became an heir of the righteousness that comes by faith.
Gill's Notes on the Bible
And the sea arose,.... Swelled, and was tumultuous and raging; the waves mounted up, and tossed the ship to and fro:
by reason of a great wind that blew; which agitated the waters of the sea, and lifted up the waves; which storm seems to have arose after they had set sail, and were got into the midst of the sea.
Barnes' Notes on the Bible
See this miracle of walking on the sea explained in the notes at Matthew 14:22-33. Compare Mark 6:45-52.
John 6:21
Immediately - Quickly. Before a long time. How far they were from the land we know not, but there is no evidence that there was a miracle in the case. The word translated “immediately” does not of necessity imply that there was no interval of time, but that there was not a long interval. Thus, in Matthew 13:5, in the parable of the sower, “and immediately (the same word in Greek) they sprung up,” etc., Mark 4:17; Matthew 24:29; 3 John 1:14.
