Contextual Overview

1‘Now this is the law of the guilt offering; it is most holy. 2In the place where they slaughter the burnt offering they are to slaughter the guilt offering, and he shall splash its blood around on the altar. 3Then he shall bring near from it all its fat: the fat tail and the fat that covers the entrails, 4and the two kidneys with the fat that is on them, which is on the loins, and the lobe on the liver he shall remove with the kidneys. 5And the priest shall offer them up in smoke on the altar as an offering by fire to Yahweh; it is a guilt offering. 6Every male among the priests may eat of it. It shall be eaten in a holy place; it is most holy. 7The guilt offering is like the sin offering, there is one law for them; the priest who makes atonement with it shall have it. 8Also the priest who brings near any man's burnt offering, that priest shall have for himself the skin of the burnt offering which he has brought near. 9Likewise, every grain offering that is baked in the oven and everything prepared in a pan or on a griddle shall belong to the priest who brings it near. 10And every grain offering, mixed with oil or dry, shall belong to all the sons of Aaron, to all alike.

Gill's Notes on the Bible

As the sin [offering is], so [is] the trespass [offering, there is] one law for them,.... The same as in Leviticus 6:27:

the priest that maketh atonement therewith shall have it; who by offering it made atonement for the trespass of the person that brings it, as typical of the atonement by the sacrifice of Christ; he was to have all but what was burnt, for himself and his sons; though no doubt but other priests then on duty in the court ate with him.

Barnes' Notes on the Bible

See Leviticus 5:14 note. In Leviticus 7:2 “sprinkle” should rather be cast Leviticus 1:5. All the details regarding the parts put on the altar are repeated for each kind of sacrifice, because the matter was one of paramount importance.
