Because of their strong hatred, they have tried to destroy Judah. ¹⁶ So this is what the Lord God says: I will use my power against the Philistines. I will kill the Kerethites, and I will destroy those people still alive on the coast of the Mediterranean Sea. ¹⁷ I will punish them in my anger and do great acts of revenge to them. They will know that I am the Lord when I take revenge on them.'"

For though the Chaldeans and Arabians were the instruments of their ruin, their destruction was of the Lord; it was his hand that was upon them, and his vengeance that was executed on them, for their hard sayings against his people; for though he had spoke against them in his providence, and chastised them for their sins, yet he will not suffer others to speak against them:
