In the whole land—
It shall happen that in all the land," says the LORD, Two parts in it will be cut off and die; But the third will be left in it.
And it shall come to passe, that in all the land, saith the Lord, two parts therein shall be cut off, and die, but the third shall be left therein.

In the whole land, declares the Lord , two thirds shall be cut off and perish, and one third shall be left alive.
"And it will come about in all the land," Declares the LORD, "That two parts in it will be cut off and perish; But the third will be left in it.
The Lord says, "Two-thirds of the people through all the land will die. They will be gone, and one-third will be left.

And in all the land, sayeth the Lord, two partes therein shall be cut off, and die: but the third shall be left therein.

Nowhere in the land will more than a third of them be left alive.
In time, throughout that land," says Adonai , "two-thirds of those in it will be destroyed — they will die, but one-third will remain.

Two-thirds of the people in the land will be struck down and die," says the Lord , "but one-third will survive.

And he journeyed from place to place from the Negev as far as Bethel. He returned to the place where he had pitched his tent at the beginning, between Bethel and Ai.
But the land could not support them while they were living side by side. Because their possessions were so great, they were not able to live alongside one another.
So there were quarrels between Abram's herdsmen and Lot's herdsmen. (Now the Canaanites and the Perizzites were living in the land at that time.)
Is not the whole land before you? Separate yourself now from me. If you go to the left, then I'll go to the right, but if you go to the right, then I'll go to the left."
Lot chose for himself the whole region of the Jordan and traveled toward the east. So the relatives separated from each other.
After Lot had departed, the Lord said to Abram, "Look from the place where you stand to the north, south, east, and west.
Get up and walk throughout the land, for I will give it to you."
So Abram moved his tents and went to live by the oaks of Mamre in Hebron, and he built an altar to the Lord there.
Then he sent his brothers on their way and they left. He said to them, "As you travel don't be overcome with fear."

And it shall come to pass, [that] in all the land, saith the Lord,.... Either in all the land of Israel, as Kimchi interprets it; or rather in all the world, as Aben Ezra and others; for this prophecy seems to have respect, not to the calamities of the Jews at the destruction of Jerusalem, after the death of Christ, when a few were saved, a remnant according to the election of grace, yet so as by fire, for whose sake the days of tribulation were shortened; but to the external state of the church, and the trouble of it throughout Christendom, about the time of the destruction of antichrist:
two parts therein shall be cut off [and] die; all hypocrites, formalists, and outward court worshippers; who seem as if they would be at this time two thirds of the professors of true religion; who will not be able to stand the hour of temptation that will come upon all the earth, to try the inhabitants of it; which will be the last struggle of the beast of Rome, Revelation 3:10 but will be twice dead, plucked up by the roots; will die to the profession of religion, and be cut off from the people of God, and have no more a name with them:
but the third shall be left therein; the few names in Sardis, which have not defiled their garments; the hundred forty and four thousand that will stand with Christ, and by him, on Mount Zion, being redeemed from among men, Revelation 3:4 compare with this Revelation 16:19.

In all the land, two parts therein shall be cut off and die - âIn all the land of Israel,â says a Jewish interpreter; (Kimchi); â - the land, in which the Good Shepherd had been slain and the sheep scattered, âthat upon you.â our Lord had said, âmay come all the righteous blood.â As David punished Moab, âwith two lines measured he to put to death, and with one full line to keep aliveâ 2 Samuel 8:2; and Ezekiel prophesied, âA third part of thee shall die with the pestilence, and with famine shall they be consumed in the midst of thee: and a third part shall fall by the sword round about theeâ Ezekiel 5:12; so now, the greater part should be destroyed, but a remnant should be saved. âBut the third part shall be left therein. Even so then at this present time also,â Paul says, âthere is a remnant according to the election of graceâ Romans 11:5. Osorius: âThe third part only shall be saved from the common destruction; yet not so, that they should suppose that glory was to be obtained amid ease.â

Verse Zechariah 13:8. Two parts therein shall be cut off — In the war with the Romans.
But the third shall be left — Those who believe on the Lord Jesus Christ shall be preserved alive; and not one of these perished in the siege, or afterwards, by those wars.
