8 On the seventh day of the fifth month, in the nineteenth year of King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon, Nebuzaradan came to Jerusalem. He was the captain of the soldiers, a servant of the king of Babylon. 9 He burned the house of the Lord, the king's house, and all the houses of Jerusalem. He burned every great house with fire. 10 And all the Babylonian army who were with the captain of the soldiers broke down the walls around Jerusalem. 11 Then Nebuzaradan the captain of the soldiers carried away to Babylon the rest of the people who were left in the city. And he carried away the soldiers who had run away from the battle. 12 But the captain of the soldiers left behind some of the very poor people of the land to take care of the vines and to plow the fields. 13 The Babylonians broke in pieces the brass pillars in the house of the Lord.
