¹¹Jesus continued riding toward Jerusalem. When he reached the border between Galilee and Samaria, ¹²he rode through a village. Ten townspeople stood at a distance ¹³and hollered out to Jesus, "Jesus, Boss, help us, please!" ¹⁴He looked over at them and said, "Go show yourselves to the preachers." And as they went in faith, they were healed. ¹⁵One of these who was healed came back and said to Jesus, "Praise the Boss!" ¹⁶He then got down on one knee in front of Jesus and thanked him for what he'd done. This man wasn't even Jewish, he was a half-breed Samaritan. ¹⁷Jesus asked, "Where are the other nine that I healed? ¹⁸Has not one of the Boss's kids from Israel returned to give glory to God? Is this foreigner the only one?" ¹⁹Then Jesus said to him, "You may stand and go. Your faith in me has healed you."

And they lifted up their voices,.... Together, and cried aloud, being at a distance, that they might be heard; as well as to express their vehement desire, and great importunity to be cleansed; see Judges 9:7.

And said, Jesus, Master; or "Rabbi, Jesus", thou great Master in Israel; who art a teacher come from God, and who dost surprising miracles, and art able to cure us:

have mercy on us; and cleanse us from our leprosy; we believe thou art able, if thou wilt; show compassion to us, miserable objects, as they were; their faith was the same with that of the other leper, in Matthew 8:2.

Verse Luke 17:13. They lifted up their voices — They cried with one accord-they were all equally necessitous, and there was but one voice among them all, though ten were engaged in crying at the same time. As they were companions in suffering, they were also companions in prayer. Prayer should be strong and earnest, when the disease is great and inveterate. Sin is the worst of all leprosies; it not only separates those to whom it cleaves from the righteous, but it separates them from God; and nothing but the pitying heart and powerful hand of Christ Jesus can set any soul free from it.
