²⁷ And [there was] a gate in the inner court towarde the south, and he measured from gate to gate toward the south, a hundred cubites. ²⁸ So he brought me into the inner court thorowe the south gate, and he measured the south gate according to those measures. ²⁹ And the chambers thereof, the frontes therof, and the arches thereof, according to these measures, and wyndowes in it: and in the arches thereof round about, fiftie cubites long, and fiue and twentie cubites broade. ³⁰ And the arches round about [were] fiue and twentie cubites long, and fiue cubites broade. ³¹ And the arches therof [were] toward the vtter court, and paulme trees vpon the frontes therof, & the goyng vp to it [had] eyght steppes. ³² He brought me also into the inmost court toward the east, and measured the gate according to those measures. ³³ And the chambers thereof, and frontes therof, and the arches therof [were] according to these measures, & there were windowes therin, and in the arches therof round about: it [was] fiftie cubites long, & fiue and twentie cubites broade. ³⁴ And the arches therof [were] towarde the vtter court, and paulme trees vpon the frontes thereof on this side and on that side, & the goyng vp to it had eyght steppes. ³⁵ And he brought me to the north gate, & measured it according to those measures. ³⁶ The chambers thereof, the frontes therof, and the arches therof, and [there were] windowes therin rounde about: and the length [was] fiftie cubites, & the breadth fiue and twentie cubites.

And he brought me to the inner court by the south gate,.... Having done with the outer court, east, north, and south, the prophet is brought into the inner court by the south gate, which was nearest to enter by. No mention is made of a western gate, there was one in Solomon's temple; for there were porters appointed westward by David, and fixed by Solomon, 1 Chronicles 9:24, but Josephus l says, in the second temple the western part had no gate, but a continued wall; for those that came out of the captivity, as Kimchi on Ezekiel 40:5 observes, built it (as much as they could) according to the form of what they saw in Ezekiel's temple, which shall be in time to come.

And he measured the south gate according to these measures; the gate which led into the inner court; for the south gate, which led to the outward court, he had measured before, Ezekiel 40:21.
