Un corazón sabio y comprensivo - La sabiduría de Salomón parece haber sido moral e intelectual (ver 1 Reyes 4:29). Pero lo único que solicitó fue sabiduría moral y lo que se le prometió. Los términos traducidos "sabio" y "comprensión", ambos denotan sabiduría práctica. (Ver Génesis 41:33, Génesis 41:39; Deuteronomio 4:6; Proverbios 1:2, etc.)

Ni después de ti se levantará nadie como tú - i. mi. En el conocimiento de lo que había en el hombre, y en la sabiduría para dirigir las salidas de los hombres, debía ser el más sabio de "todos" los meros hombres. Con tanta sabiduría, el mundo conocería a uno solo "mayor que Salomón" Mateo 12:42; Lucas 11:31.

Versículo 1 Reyes 3:12 . Te he dado un corazón sabio y entendido.   Te he dado una mente amplia, capaz de saber mucho: utiliza adecuadamente tus poderes, bajo la dirección de mi Espíritu, y superarás en sabiduría a todos los que te han precedido; ni después de ti se levantará ninguno como tú. Pero, pregunta, ¿no era todo esto condicional? Si anduviera en sus caminos, y guardara sus estatutos y mandamientos, 1 Reyes 3:14. ¿No dependía de su uso adecuado de las inspiraciones iniciáticas? ¿Recibió alguna vez toda esta sabiduría? ¿No impidió su infidelidad el cumplimiento del propósito divino? En lugar de ser el más sabio de los hombres, ¿no se convirtió en el más bruto de todos? ¿No perdió incluso el conocimiento de su Creador, y adoró las abominaciones de los moabitas, zidonios, etc.? ¿Y no fue tal idolatría una prueba de la más burda estupidez? ¡Cuántas pruebas da su vida de que se cumplió en él el bondadoso propósito de Dios! Recibió mucho, pero habría recibido mucho más, si hubiera sido fiel a la gracia concedida. Ningún personaje en los escritos sagrados nos decepciona más que el carácter de Salomón.
