Ou trs anos de fome, ou que trs meses sejas consumido diante dos teus adversrios, e a espada de teus inimigos te alcance, ou que trs dias a espada do SENHOR, isto , a peste na terra, e o anjo do SENHOR destrua todos os termos de Israel; v, pois, agora, que resposta hei de levar a quem me enviou.

And the angel of the Lord destroying ... - These words are not in Samuel, which puts the third alternative briefly. They prepare the way for the angelic appearance 1 Chronicles 21:16, on which the author is about to lay so much stress.
