Chronicles 19:2"> 2 Y salióle al encuentro Jehú el vidente, hijo de Hanani, y dijo al rey Josaphat: ¿Al impío das ayuda, y amas á los que aborrecen á Jehová? Pues la ira de la presencia de Jehová será sobre ti por ello. Chronicles 19:3"> 3 Empero se han hallado en ti buenas cosas, porque cortaste de la tierra los bosques, y has apercibido tu corazón á buscar á Dios. Chronicles 19:4"> 4 Habitó pues Josaphat en Jerusalem; mas daba vuelta y salía al pueblo, desde Beer-seba hasta el monte de Ephraim, y reducíalos á Jehová el Dios de sus padres. Chronicles 19:5"> 5 Y puso en la tierra jueces en todas las ciudades fuertes de Judá, por todos los lugares. Chronicles 19:6"> 6 Y dijo á los jueces: Mirad lo que hacéis: porque no juzguéis en lugar de hombre, sino en lugar de Jehová, el cual está con vosotros en el negocio del juicio. Chronicles 19:7"> 7 Sea pues con vosotros el temor de Jehová; guardad y haced: porque en Jehová nuestro Dios no hay iniquidad, ni acepción de personas, ni recibir cohecho. to his house in peace in Jerusalem; to his palace there in safety, having narrowly escaped losing his life in the battle.

Barnes' Notes on the Bible

Jehoshaphat ... returned to his house in peace - With the battle of Ramoth-Gilead, and the death of Ahab, the war came to an end. The combined attack of the two kings having failed, their troops had been withdrawn, and the enterprise in which they had joined relinquished. The Syrians, satisfied with their victory, did not press on the retreating foe, or carry the war into their enemies’ country.

CHAPTER XIX

Jehoshaphat, on his return from Ramoth-gilead, is met by the

prophet Jehu, and reproved, 1-3.

He makes a farther reformation in the land, establishing courts

of justice, and giving solemn and pertinent directions to the

judges, Levites, &c., to do judgement and justice among the

people, in the fear of God, 4-11.

Verse 2 Chronicles 19:1. Returned to his house in peace — That is, in safety, notwithstanding he had been exposed to a danger so imminent, from which only the especial mercy of God could have saved him.
