Isaiah 15:1
burden. The first of the seven burdens.
Because = Surely.
Moab. Had been subdued by Saul (1 Samuel 14:47 ) and David (2 Samuel 8:2 ); and paid tribute to Ahab ( 2Ki 1:1 ; 2 Kings 3:4 , 2 Kings 3:5 ). Ar = Rabbah (Numbers 21:28 ; Deuteronomy 2:9 , Deuteronomy 2:18 , Deuteronomy 2:29 ).
brought to silence = cut off or destroyed.
Isaiah 39:1
At that time: i.e. shortly after the two miracles of the shadow and Hezekiah's recovery from his sickness. Compare 2 Chronicles 32:31 .
letters and a present. These were more potent than Sennacherib's hosts; just as Ahab's daughter and feast were than his men of war with Jehoshaphat. See 2 Chronicles 18:1-3 . Compare with 2 Chronicles 17:1-3 .
Jeremiah 33:2
the Maker thereof = the doer thereof: i.e. the accomplisher of His word.
the LORD. This is not found in some codices, nor in the Septuagint, Syriac, and Vulgate.
the LORD is His name. The Massorah states that this expression occurs only four times (Exodus 15:3 .Exodus 33:2 .Amos 5:8 ; Amos 9:6 ). Reference to Pentateuch (Exodus 15:3 ). App-92 .
Ezekiel 18:3
saith the Lord GOD = [is] Adonai Jehovah's oracle.
the Lord God . See note on Ezekiel 2:4 .
any more . This refers to a future time, which has not yet come (Jeremiah 31:29 , Jeremiah 31:30 ). Till then it is otherwise (Ezekiel 21:3 .Lamentations 5:2; Lamentations 5:2 ), and has been since Genesis 3:0 . Compare Romans 5:12-21 .

the wall thereof = her wall: i.e. the wall of Nineveh.

to content the people = to satisfy the crowd. This is the motto of the present day, but it always ends in judgment. See and compare Exodus 32:1 with Exodus 26:27 . Acts 12:3 with Acts 12:23 ; 2 Timothy 4:3 with 2 Timothy 4:1 and 2 Timothy 4:8 . So here.
Mark 7:22
covetousness = covetous desires.
Wickedness = wickednesses. App-128 .
deceit = guile.
lasciviousness = licentiousness.

evil eye . Figure of speech Catachresis. App-6 . Denoting envy, which proceeds out of the heart.

unprofitable = not needed, no use for. This may be for various reasons. Occurs only here and in Matthew 25:30 , where the reason maybe for having done wickedly. Not the same word as in 2 Timothy 3:9; 2 Timothy 3:9 . Philemon 1:11 , Hebrews 13:17 .
