Psalms 47:1-9 — Intro: Title: God is too big to only be talked about! What a blessing when theology becomes doxology. My hope? that this will prepare your hearts for this Sunday’s worship service. Ps.47 seems to follow quite naturally after Ps.46...read vs.10. The challenge is to the nations to stand in awe of God. It moves from God speaking(46:10) to the Psalmist encouraging a response of worship Karl Barth wrote, “Christian

Leviticus 2:1-16 — THE MEAL OFFERING! (1-3) Meal Offering – minah. A gift of any kind may be termed a minah. In this case here it is a gift to God of the daily food of the people! The meal offering stood apart from the other 4, as it was a “bloodless” sacrifice. There was thus no life given up, but a part of it was burned on the altar for a sweet aroma. “It does not speak to us of our Savior as sacrificed for sinners on the cross, but it is God’s

One of the saddest verses: All we like sheep have gone astray, everyone to his own way! Yet, He seeks the lost! (leaving the 99) Turn
Hosea 13:1-16 — she could interrupt, said one statement. And the Haitian lady stood up & said, “that makes sense, you should use that next time” & she left! PRESENT DISCIPLINES! (ch.13) ATTITUDE! But now Ephraim would become like the clouds, dew, chaff, & smoke …i.e. as nothing! “Like” comes up 17 times in these 2 chapters. INGRATITUDE!

Acts 2:42-47 — community/intimacy whatever the size. The church is about both quantity & quality. The 2 should never be thought of as separate. Healthy churches usually grow! Well, let’s check out the 1st church plant! THE CHURCH’S QUAD’S! (42-47) The 1st church of Jerusalem: Wouldn’t it be great to peek at the “minutes”, the records of the 1st church, & hear what was important to them. That’s exactly what we get to do. Judges 4:1-24 — military victory over the Cannanites was “judging” Israel from Ramah. The term “judging” is important if we are to understand this woman’s importance. A judge was more than a person who settled disputes (which she did 4:5). A judge in Israel exercised all the functions of a governor: he or she held executive and legislative authority, and often military authority as well. Is the Bible really sexist, or are women valued and appreciated there? God
