1 Kings 5:1-18
Intro:
We now move from Solomon’s wisdom to his building projects.
Ch’s 5-8 record the fulfillment of God’s promise that Solomon would build a temple to the glory of God.
Its Preparation (5). Execution (ch’s. 6,7). & Dedication (ch. 8).
Solomon obtains the basic materials for the construction of the
1 Kings 5:1-18
Intro:

Its Preparation (5). Execution (ch’s. 6,7). & Dedication (ch. 8).
Solomon obtains the basic materials for the construction of the
Leviticus 1:1-17 Mal.1:7,8
This symbolizes the perfection that God demands.
[2] IDENTIFICATION (4) “put his hand on the head”
The sinners guilt is symbolically transferred to the victim, the substitute.
[3] KILLING THE VICTIM (5) “he shall kill the bull before the Lord”
“The wages of sin is death.” Rom.6:23
He shall kill (the offerer) “Anyone can kill the animal (thus identifying w/their sin & guilt) but only the priest could engage
Leviticus 1:1-17 Mal.1:7,8

3rd - Accept your yokes as from God & He will transform it from “Bondage to Blessing!”
4th – If you Break the light yoke, the next one will be heavier.
5th - Everyone must wear a yoke! {we are like wild beasts that need to be broken}
vs.17 – God doesn’t usually strike someone dead in such a dramatic fashion.
Q: Can you name a few? {The sons of Korah/Num.16; Uzzah/2 Sam.6;
Lamentations 1:1-22 month between the captivity of Jer. & its destruction.
Famine & destruction were still raging in the streets (1:11,19)

The 10 commandments were given about 50 days after coming up out of Egypt. When encamped at Sinai.
How were they given to Moses? Written (not oral) by the finger of God.
The 10 commandments were written down & given to Moses to
1 Samuel 5:1-12 [pre-deployment; deployment; post-deployment]
As this day commemorates all U.S. Men/women who died while in the military service. 1,000th American serviceman killed in the Afghan conflict.
