Intro:
Listed here are sins against “True religion & family”.
Sin is evil in relation to God, & crime is evil in relation to man.
The same Lord who declared the precepts also declared the penalties.
15 offences in Israel were capitol crimes.
The offenders “usually” were stoned to death.

Ecclesiastes 11:1-10 it, & that’s where faith comes in.

Solomon was very involved in different kinds of trade. (1 Kings 9:26,27; 10:14,15)
It would be months or years before they would return (1 Kings 22), so this would take faith & patience.
(2) Here Solomon suggests spreading out your wealth, not to put everything into one adventure.

Finally, Jeremiah’s message is vindicated!
Had this chapter not taken place (Jer. prophecy fulfilled), we wouldn’t be reading Jeremiah but Hananiah

We’ll look at 5 questions: [1] Why are they backsliding? [2] How can you say, “We are wise?” [3] Why are they sitting still? [4] Why did they provoke god? [5] Why is there no recovery?

Habakkuk 3:1-19 having a healthy perspective on who God is.
[2] Remembering back on how God has worked in history(i.e. know the Word)
[3] This takes self-centeredness out of prayer.
[4] The better we know Him the better we’ll want what He wants.
[5] “When God is our focus, our struggles become, not isolated islands of pain, but paths toward Him!” (Swindoll)
Wiersbe defined prayer as, “reminding God of His promises & claiming them for ourselves.”

Immature people require religious regulations to tell them what to do, & these help them to measure their “spiritual life”.
(5) Question #1 - Did you really fast for me? – Are you genuinely sorry that the temple, the symbol of God’s presence, was destroyed, or are you sad, “things just simply aren’t what they used to be?”
They had 4 traditional

That’s proportion. Giving from what you had, rather than from what others had.

It’s not more spiritual to be poor, that isn’t our goal.
But equality seems to be God’s heart. (Ex.16:18 manna)
So it’s not how
James 4:11-17 rightly though, we must know ALL there is to know about that other person.
It requires the complete understanding about that person’s thoughts & motives that only God possesses!
Jesus cautioned about hypocritical judgment in Mt.7:1-5 (splinter/plank).
If you see someone else doing wrong ask yourself whether the same evil in another form, is hiding inside you somewhere.
The law James is probably referring to was the royal law he already mentioned in
Judges 6:1-40 to.
(4) Here the Midianites use there Scorched Earth Policy. Finally outlawed as recent as 1977 at the Geneva Convention. A military strategy of burning or destroying buildings, crops, or other resources that might be of use to an invading enemy force.
(5) 1st time hear of camels being used in a tactic of warfare. Newest Military Advancement
28-30 miles a day (but up to 100). 3 days w/o food & water.
Thus, giving the Midianites an immense tactical superiority.
